ARK-3380 User Manual 20Chapter 3 Hardware Installation andUpgrade3.1 Jumpers and ConnectorsThe ARK-3380 Embedded Box Computer consists of a PC-based com-puter that is housed in an aluminum top cover, a metal bottom case withaccessed bottom cover and Front/ Rear Metal Face plate. Your HDD,SDRAM, are all readily accessible by removing the accessed bottomcover. Any maintenance or hardware upgrades can be easily completedafter removing the top cover, and Front with Rear Metal Face plate. If youare a systems integrator and need to know how to completely disassemblethe embedded box computer, you can find more useful information inChapter 6.3.2 Setting jumpersYou can configure your ARK-3380 to match the needs of your applica-tion by setting jumpers. A jumper is the simplest kind of electrical switch.It consists of two metal pins and a small metal clip (often protected by aplastic cover) that slides over the pins to connect them. To ìcloseî ajumper, you connect the pins with the clip. To ìopenî a jumper youremove the clip. Sometimes a jumper will have three pins, labeled 1, 2,and 3. In this case, you would connect either pins 1 and 2 or pins 2 and 3.The jumper settings are schematically depicted in this manual as follows:Warning! Do not remove any mechanical parts, suchas the top cover, bottom cover and front with rearface plate until you have verified that no power isflowing within the Embedded Box Computer. Powermust be switched off and the power cord must beunplugged. Every time you service the EmbeddedBox Computer, you should be aware of this.
