UTC-315 POS Series User Manual 122.4 Installing System SoftwareRecent releases of operating systems by major vendors include setup programs thatload automatically and guide users through hard disk preparation and operating sys-tem installation. The instructions below outline the steps for installing an operatingsystem on the UTC-315 POS hard drive.Software installation requires that an HDD is already installed. Software can beloaded onto UTC-315 using any of the following four methods:2.4.1 Method 1: EthernetThe Ethernet port can be used to download software to the HDD.2.4.2 Method 2: External USB CD-ROMInsert the operating system installation disk into the disk drive until the release buttonpops up. The UTC-315 POS BIOS also supports system bootup directly from the CD-ROM drive. After inserting the installation disk, power on or reset the system bypressing “Ctrl” + “Alt” + “Del” simultaneously. UTC-315 POS will automatically loadthe operating system from the disk or CD-ROM drive.If presented with the opening screen of a setup or installation program, follow theonscreen instructions. The setup program will guide users through preparing the harddrive and installing the operating system. If presented with an operating system com-mand prompt, such as A:\>, users must partition and format the hard drive beforemanually copying the operating system files. Refer to the operating system usermanual for instructions on partitioning and formatting a hard drive.2.5 Installing DriversAfter the system software is installed, the Ethernet, chipset, graphics, audio, USB3.0, and touchscreen functions can be setup. All the drivers can be downloaded fromthe Advantech website.Note! Some distributors and system integrators may have preinstalled systemsoftware onto UTC-315 POS prior to shipment.Note!
