It is also assumed that thecomputer/ notebook has the network card already installed.(Note: Settings for TCP/IP may be optional as the DSL Modem has a built-in function that allows theuser who has a Static IP Address on the network card to access either the DSL Modem configurationpage or surf web)FOR WINDOWS USERS:2. Settings for Internet Browser Proxy:i) Windows Desktop-> right click on Internet Explorer (IE) icon, scrolldown to select Propertiesii) “Internet Properties” window -> click Connections tab -> SelectNever dial a connection -> click LAN Settings …iii) “Local Area Network (LAN) Settings “window ->remove the tick forthe option for the Automatic configuration -> remove the tick for theoption box for Proxy Server -> click OK -> click again to exit from“Internet Properties” window3. For Singnet Filtering Service User (e.g. Family On-line)i) Windows Desktop -> right click Internet Explorer (IE) -> clickPropertiesii) “Internet Properties” window -> click Connections tab Select Neverdial a connection -> click LAN Settings kkdkiii) Click to put a tick for Automatically detect settingsiv) Click to put a tick for “Use a proxy server for your LAN ...”-Type filter.singnet.com.sg in “Address” field ->Type 8080 in “Port” -> click Advanced-Proxy Settings window - > click to put a tick for “Use theSame Proxy Server for all protocols”-Type 192.168.1.1 in the space provided under“Exceptions”. Click OK to exit “Proxy Setting” -> click OKto exit “LAN Settings” -> click OK again to exit “Internet Properties”1a. Configure TCP/IP settings for Win 98SE/Mei) Windows Desktop -> right click Network Neighborhoodfor Win98SE / Network Places for Win ME -> Propertiesii) “Network” window -> click the Configuration tab -> scroll down toselect and double click TCP/IP xxx (xxx refers refers to the modelof the Ethernet Network Card connected to the DSL600E(C))iii) “TCP/IP Properties” window -> select IP Address tab ->SelectObtain an IP address automatically -> click DNS Configurationtab -> click Disable DNS -> Click OK1b. Configure TCP/IP settings for Windows 2K/XPi) Windows Desktop-> right click on Network Place icon, scroll downto select Propertiesii) “Network & Dial-Up Connection” window -> click LocalArea Connection -> scroll down to select and double clickInternet Protocol TCP/IPiii) “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties” ->select Obtain anIP address automatically -> select Obtain DNS serveraddress automatically -> click OKFOR WINDOWS 98SE/ME/XP/2000 USERS2aIMPORTANT: Insert the Utility CD into the CD-ROM. The utilitywill auto-run and display the main menu. Select Setup Wizardbutton to proceed.(Note: If doesn’t auto-run, then go to the CD-ROMdrive and execute the Setup.exe)FIREWALL REMINDERS:If your computer is installed with a firewall, it might prompt thatthe setup launcher is trying to access the internet, just click onAllow or Grant Access to proceed with setup. If the firewalldoes not give you the prompt and utility informed you that yourcomputer is with a firewall, exit the utility and try disabling thefirewall rerun the utility CD. Enable the firewall after completingthe setup.Setup Wizard will start to check and configurethe PC and DSL Router. In event the Wizardprompts error, please follow the guide to rectifythe problem.2bAfter checking, it will prompt you to enterUsername and Password to setup the InternetConnection.2cStep2 : Configuring Using Setup Utility Step3 : Connect to the InternetEnter your Username and Password given by theISP. Depending on the service where yousubscribed, you need to include the suffix“@singnet” or “@singnet1500” or“@singnetbusiness” after the username. ClickCONTINUE to proceed.3aUpon successful connection to the Internet, it willdisplay a summary of the settings, you may saveor print for future reference. Click CONTINUE toproceed3bIt will show info that the internet connection wassuccessfully established. You may click on thecube to start surfing or click EXIT to exit the utility3C |
