In this mode,the feed dogs are automatically lowered so thefabric can be moved freely, and the presser foot israised to the necessary height for free-motionsewing.We recommend attaching the foot controller andsewing at a consistent speed.■ Free-motion Quilting Using Free-motionQuilting Foot “C”The free-motion quilting foot “C” is used for free-motion sewing using a straight stitch. Using any other stitch mayresult in the needle striking the quilting foot, causingdamage or injuries.Memo• When starting to sew, the internal sensor detects thethickness of the fabric, and the quilting foot is raisedto the height specified in the machine settingsscreen. Increase the height that the quiltingfoot is raised, for example, when sewing puffy orthick fabrics; decrease for better control of thinfabrics.• In order to sew with a balanced tension, it may benecessary to adjust the upper thread tension (seepage 45). Test with a sample piece of quilting fabric.NoteMake sure that the quilting foot is not slanted.CAUTION• Be sure to securely tighten the screws with thescrewdriver.
