31RIDING THROUGH WATERYou can ride the ATV through shallow water. Make sure it is not more than 10cm(4 inches) deep and is not moving fast. Choose a good place to cross beforeyou ride through the water. Look for a spot where the banks are gently slopedon both sides and the bottom of the stream is hard. If you are unfamiliar withthe area, park the ATV and inspect the stream first to find a suitable spot forcrossing. When crossing, operate the ATV at a slow, steady speed. Be carefulnot to damage banks when crossing.WARNINGOperating this ATV through deep or fast flowing water could behazardous.The ATV tires may float losing traction and then loss of control. Thiscould lead to an accident.Never operate this ATV in fast flowing water or in water deeper thandescribed in this section. Remember that wet brakes may reducethe stopping ability. Test your brakes after leaving the water.
