WARNING - Perform this pre-ride inspection before operating the vehicle. If not performed, seriousdamage to the vehicle or personal injury may result.1. ENGINE OIL LEVEL - Add oil if required. Check for leaks.Tighten filler cap securely.2. FUEL LEVEL - Add fuel as necessary. Do not overfill (no fuelin the filler neck). Replace cap tightly. Check for leaks. Donot mix oil with gas.WARNING - Do not refill engine while it is hot. It ispossible for spilled fuel to ignite resulting in a fire. Donot fill gas tank in a closed area such as a garage. After fillingthe tank move the vehicle at least 15 feet away from spot offilling before starting.3. BRAKES - PERFORM A BRAKE TEST:NOTE: Always check for broken or frayed cables beforeoperating this vehicle.TEST 1Step 1: With the engine OFF, have the operator sit onthe vehicle.Step 2: If supervising adult is capable, push thevehicle slowly.Step 3: Have the operator apply the hand brake to feelhow much pressure is needed for a smoothstop.TEST 2Operate the bike in an open area away from any obstacles.The Brake should not drag. However, it should stop the bikewhen applied fully with throttle returned.4. TIRES - Check condition and pressure.5. DRIVE CHAIN – Check chain condition and tension.6. THROTTLE - CHECK FOR SMOOTH OPERATION. Assurethrottle "snaps" back to idle. Also, check for frayed cable ordamaged cable conduit. If either condition exists replace thecable assembly before riding.7. STOP SWITCH - PERFORM THIS STOP SWITCH TEST:While the engine is running, push the engine stop button.The engine should stop. If the engine does not stop, check toensure that the stop switch wire is attached to the terminal onthe engine and the wiring harness is plugged into the back ofthe remote key stop switch. DO NOT OPERATE THISVEHICLE WITH A STOP SWITCH THAT IS NOTFUNCTIONING PROPERLY.8. ALL NUTS, BOLTS, AND FASTENERS - Check wheels to seethat all axle nuts and lug nuts are tightened on axles andsteering bolts. Check and tighten all other fasteners asnecessary.9. GUARDS - Ensure all protective guards are in place. NEVERREMOVE ANY CHAIN GUARD, CLUTCH GUARD, ORTORQUE CONVERTER GUARD. Each of these covers havea protective purpose, if removed it could endanger thepersonal safety of the operator.10. STEERING SYSTEM - Ensure that the steering system turnsfreely and that the throttle and brake cables move freely withthe steering system.CORRECT any discrepancies according to the Owner's manual before riding. If a problem cannot becorrected, contact Baja Motorsports at 888-863-2252 for assistance.STARTING INSTRUCTIONSNOTE: Do not attempt to start or operate this machine without being completely familiar with all controlsnecessary to operate this vehicle safely. Do not start the engine before reading and understandingall the rules, warnings, instructions, and operational safety tips in this manual.1. Before starting the engine, the operator should be seated on the vehicle. If the operator is not seated on the vehicle, it should be placedagainst a STATIONARY object and started.2. DO NOT START THE ENGINE BEFORE CHECKING TO MAKE SURE THE THROTTLE ASSEMBLY IS IN THE IDLE POSITION.WARNING - Each time prior to starting the engine, check the throttle assembly to ensure that when the throttle grip (right side) is turned allthe way toward the operator, the assembly is working smoothly and returns to idle when released. Do not operate if grip and engine throttlelinkage fail to return to idle.3. Refer to the engine owner’s manual for proper use of the engine choke in the starting process.4. Pull recoil starter rope sharply. See engine manual. Do not flood the engine by continuously pulling the starter rope. If engine does notstart after two or three pulls of the starter rope, choke the engine as described in the engine owner’s manual. If engine does not start wait afew minutes then repeat the cycle above.OPERATIONAL SAFETY TIPSGETTING USED TO THE VEHICLE IN MOTIONBe sure the operator is wearing all of the proper protective gear asdescribed in section 13 of THE IMPORTANT RULES FOROPERATION included in this manual. With the engine OFF, havethe operator mount the vehicle. If supervising adult is capable,push the vehicle slowly. Have the operator apply the hand braketo feel how much pressure is needed for a smooth stop. Practicethis several times until the supervising adult is sure this skill is |
