If you removed the stock centering pinto clean the case, reinstall it with redthreadlocker. Install the GrudgeBoxshifter pawl along with the new seal,washer, and 7/16” retaining ring just likea stock shifter pawl is installed. Do notremove the zip tie because it is placedon the pawl to keep the active plateretracted during gearset installation intothe case; see figure 24.2. The time has come to stuff the gearset(figure 25) into the transmission case.Before that is done, take time to ensureno debris or tarantulas have found theirway into the case. Check that the twobearing door dowels came out of thecase with old bearing door. Locate thenew bearing door gasket onto thedowels of the GrudgeBox bearing door.Generously apply transmission lube tothe last 6” of the mainshaft, end of thecountershaft, countershaft bearing,tapered roller bearings, and thebearings/seal in the main drive gear.Do not remove the black rubber capfrom the end of the mainshaft. Itsfunction is to protect the seal in themain drive gear as the gearset isinstalled.
