Before you start…PlacementAllow enough space above the BeoSound 1 toenable the built-in aerial to extend and the CDcompartment to raise.Make sure that the BeoSound 1 is alwaysplaced on a firm, stable surface.The BeoSound 1 is designed for indoor usein dry, domestic environments only, and foruse within a temperature range of 10–40°C(50–105°F).If you connect external sources to theBeoSound 1, do not switch on the mains untilyou have made all connections.ConnectionsThe socket panel is located underneath theBeoSound 1. The socket panel contains mains,aerial and AUX sockets.Auxiliary equipment…Use the AUX socket to connect auxiliaryequipment, e.g. an audio tape recorder ora mini disc player. Please consult a Bang &Olufsen retailer for details.If a recorder is connected to your BeoSound 1,you can make recordings from the radio andCD player. Please refer to the user’s guidesupplied with the recorder.However, if you operate the BeoSound 1 whilesuch a recording is in progress, the recordingwill be disrupted.The AUX socket is activated by pressing bothCD simultaneously.External aerial…If you wish to connect an external aerial toBeoSound 1, move the built-in aerial plugto the position marked(A), and connect theexternal one to the socket instead.MaintenanceDo not use alcohol or other solvents to clean anypart of the BeoSound 1. We do not recommendusing special cleaning CDs in the BeoSound 1.Before you clean the BeoSound 1, werecommend that you disconnect it from themains to prevent inadvertent operation.Clean dusty surfaces using a dry, soft cloth.If necessary remove grease stains or persistentdirt with a lint-free, firmly wrung cloth,dipped in a solution of water containingonly a few drops of mild detergent, such aswashing–up liquid.The front may also be cleaned with a softbrush mounted on a vacuum cleaner set to thelowest level.4(A)AUX
