It is theoperator's responsibility to read the manualthoroughly, understand the machine's controlfunctions and all safety precautions andwarnings before operating the machine.Even if you are an experienced operator, don'tassume that controls on this machine are thesame as other similar equipment. Understandand acknowledge the differences of thismachine before operating.Ÿ Walk around the machine and warn allpersonnel who may be near the machine orin the machine path before starting. Do notstart until all personnel are clearly away from themachine.Ÿ Establish a safe work area:Ÿ where there is plenty of maneuvering roomŸ where ground is smooth, even and firmŸ where there are no obstaclesŸ Know the perimeters of the established workarea.Ÿ Do not set up the work area:Ÿ near edges of a ditchŸ in slide areasŸ near river or stream banksŸ near overhangs or excavation sitesŸ Always wear the seat belt, if provided.Ÿ Always remain in the operator's seat whilemachine is energized and/or while boom islifted.Ÿ Start and operate the machine only from theoperator's station.Ÿ If equipped, do not operate machine withoutlowering stabilizers.Ÿ Move controls slowly to get the feel of themachine.Ÿ Unlike mechanical joysticks, hydraulicallyoperated (servo) controls become inert whenengine is shut down and hydraulic power islost.2 OPERATING PROCEDURESThis machine is built to lift loads and isextremely powerful. Do not operate carelessly.There is potential for personal injury and equipmentdamage. Be concerned about safety whenpreparing to operate machine. Operator musthandle load so that maximum stability ismaintained. Be familiar with size and weight ofhandled materials.Ensure safe operation by inspecting machineas stated in Pre-Start Checklist in the MACHINEPRE-START UP section. This inspection amountsto a common sense visual check of machine atbeginning of every operation.
