page 47595 ML CRL (S)800-00177INSTALLING A NEW BATTERY1. Remove battery cables. Remember position of positive terminal and negative terminal so you can connect themagain correctly.2. Remove battery hold-down bar. Remove battery from compartment.3. Clean terminal posts of new battery and cable connections with wire brush.4. Install new battery in compartment. Install hold-down bar.5. Install and tighten battery cables. Connect negative cable last to prevent sparks.WARNINGDo not touch battery terminals with any metal. Sparks may occur, causing damageto battery and personal injury.ALTERNATOR DRIVE BELT ADJUSTMENT1. Loosen alternator adjusting bolt and mounting bolt. See Figure 1.2. Move alternator along adjustment bar to adjust tension of belt tohave 1/2" movement at 10 pounds of pressure at center of belt.3.
