Section 3.3.1 describesa tabletop or shelf installation and Section 3.3.2 describes the rackmount installation.3.3.1 Tabletop or Shelf InstallationThe following two subsections provide guidelines for installation on a tabletop or shelf.Guidelines for Tabletop and Shelf InstallationsTabletop and shelf installations must be within reach of the network cabling and meet therequirements listed below:• The 2E253-49R must be located within seven feet of two grounded power receptacles that meetthe power supply requirements listed in Appendix A.• In a shelf installation, the shelf must support 13.5 kg (30 lb) of static weight for each2E253-49R.• The temperature at the installation site must be maintained between 5°C (41°F) and 40°C(104°F) with fluctuations of less than 10°C (18°F) per hour.• A clearance of 2 inches must be maintained from the left, right, and rear sides of the device toprovide adequate ventilation.InstallationFor a tabletop or shelf installation, locate the 2E253-49R within seven feet of its power source andon an unrestricted free surface area as shown in Figure 3-1. Proceed to Section 3.3.3 for powerconnection instructions.To prevent possible personal injury and/or damage to the unit, do NOT connect power tothe 2E253-49R until instructed to do so.!CAUTIONTo ensure proper ventilation and prevent overheating, leave a minimum clearance spaceof 5.1 cm (2.0 in) at the left, right, and rear of the 2E253-49R, as shown in Figure 3-1.
