If playing any compatible DVD-R the sound quality maybe reduced due to disc quality, the method of recording,the quality of the video that has been recorded, and theway the disc has been handled. There may be anincrease in skipping, difficulty in finding chapters, and/ordifficulty in loading and ejecting. If these problems occur,check the bottom surface of the DVD. If the surface of theDVD is damaged, such as cracked, broken, or scratched,the DVD will not play properly.If there is no apparent damage, try a known good DVD.Notice: If you add any label to a DVD, insert morethan one DVD into the slot at a time, or attempt toplay scratched or damaged DVDs, you could damagethe DVD player. When using the DVD player, use onlyDVDs in good condition without any label, load oneDVD at a time, and keep the DVD player and theloading slot free of foreign materials, liquids, anddebris.Do not add any label to a DVD, it could get caught in theDVD player. If a DVD is recorded on a personal computerand a description label is needed, try labeling the top ofthe recorded DVD with a soft marker instead.If an error appears on the display, see “DVD Messages”later in this section.Playing a DVDThere are three ways to play a DVD:• Once a DVD is inserted, the system willautomatically start play of the DVD.• If you are on a map screen, touch the DVD screenbutton.• Press the AUDIO hard key, then touch the DVDscreen button.When a DVD is playing in the DVD player, the rear seatoperator can power on the RSE video screen anduse the remote control to navigate through the DVD.O (Power/Volume): Press this knob to turn thesystem on and off. Turn the knob to increase ordecrease the volume of the audio system.Press and hold this knob for more than two seconds toturn the navigation system, RSE, and RSA off.3-18
