Thisdust often contains chemicals knownto cause cancer, birth defects, or otherreproductive harm. Wear protective gear.General SaFetY inForMationAir compressors are utilized in a varietyof air system applications. Because aircompressors and other components(material pump, spray gun, filters, lubrications, hoses, etc.) used make upa high pressure pumping system, thefollowing safety precautions should beobserved at all times. Only persons wellacquainted with these rules of safeoperation should be allowed to use theair compressor.Risk ofBursting! This compressoris designed to provide airpressure up to 200 psi. Mostattachments are designed to operateat a maximum pressure of less than125 psi. DO NOT adjust the regulator toresult in output pressure greater thanthe marked maximum pressure of theattachment.Risk of Injury! Do notdirect air stream atbody. All electrical workshould be doneby a qualified (licensed or certified)electrician. On a properly wired circuit, the black wires supply a voltagepotential even when the unit is off.1. Read instructionmanuals for eachcomponent carefully, before attempting toassemble, disassembleor operate your particular system.2. Wear safety glasses anduse hearing protectionwhen operating thepump or unit.3. Do not stand on or use the pump orunit as a handhold.4. Do not exceed pressure rating ofany component in system.5. Protect material lines and air linesfrom damage or puncture. Keephose and power cable away fromsharp objects, chemical spills, oil, solvents, and wet floors.6. Never point a spray gun at oneselfor any other person. Accidentaldischarge may result in seriousinjury.7. Check hoses for weak or worncondition, before each use, makingcertain all connections are secure;do not use if deficiency is found.Notify an authorized service facilityfor examination or repair.Do not rununattended. Leavingcompressor in ON position may allow it toturn on inadvertently. To prevent this andpossible damage from power surge, turnto OFF position after each use.8. Release all pressures within systemslowly; dust and debris may beharmful.Keepfingersaway from a runningcompressor; fast movingand hot parts will causeinjury and/or burns.Disconnect powerand depressurizesystem before servicing air compressor!9. Follow all local electrical and safetycodes, as well as the NationalElectrical Code (NEC) and theOccupational Safety and Health Act(OSHA).10. Wiring and fuses should followelectrical codes, current capacity, and be properly grounded.11. Electric motors must be securelyand adequately grounded. Seegrounding instructions andextension cord information, in thismanual.12. Always disconnect power sourcebefore working on or near a motor,or its connected load. If powerdisconnect point is out-of-sight, lockit in the open position and tag toprevent unexpected application ofpower.13. Guard all moving parts; keep visitorsaway. Never allow children in workarea.14. Use only a properly grounded outletthat will accept a three prongedplug, and wear shoes to preventshock hazards.Becarefulwhen touching exterior ofoperating motor; it may behot enough to cause injury.Compressor parts may be hot even if theunit is stopped.15. Protect power cable from coming incontact with sharp objects.16. Clean electrical or electronicequipment with an approvedcleaning agent, such as dry, nonflammable cleaning solvent.Motors, electricalequipment and controls cancause electrical arcs thatwill ignite a flammable gasor vapor. Never operate or repair theunit near a flammable gas or vapor.Never store flammable liquids or gasesin the vicinity of the compressor.17. To reduce fire hazard, keep engine/motorexterior free of oil, solvent, or grease.18. To avoid spontaneous combustion, discard waste rags into approvedmetal waste cans.19. NEVER reset safety valve or pressureswitch. Keep safety valve free frompaint and other accumulations. This provides safety against overpressure.Never remove orattempt to adjustsafety valve. Keep safety valve freefrom paint and other accumulations.20. Do regular maintenance; keep allnuts, bolts, and screws tight, to besure equipment is in safe workingcondition .21. Keep cleaning rags and otherflammable waste materials in atightly closed metal containerand dispose of later in the properfashion.MANUAL2Operating Instructionswww.chpower.com
