Infrared IndexInfinity compensation markDistance indexTo compensate for shifting of the infinity focuspoint that results from changes in temperature.The infinity position at normal temperature is thepoint at which the vertical line of the L mark isaligned with the distance indicator on thedistance scale.For accurate manual focusing of subjects atinfinity, look through the viewfinder or look at themagnified image* on the LCD screen whilerotating the focusing ring.* For cameras with Live View shooting capability.The infrared index corrects the focus setting when usingmonochrome infrared film. Focus on the subjectmanually, then adjust the distance setting by moving thefocusing ring to the corresponding infrared index mark.• The infrared index position is based on awavelength of 800 nm.• The compensation amount differs depending onthe focal length. Use the indicated focal length asa guide when setting the compensation amount.• Be sure to observe the manufacturer’sinstructions when using infrared film.• Use a red filter when you take the picture.Some EOS cameras cannot use infrared film.
