Connecting the Camera to Your ComputerW-10Users with a third-party card reader can download images directly from a memory card to thecomputer. While the camera and your computer are communicating, the camera’s LCD panelmay blink or the image on the monitor may flicker. However, this is not a malfunction. When unplugging the dedicated cable, be sure to grip the sides of the plug as you pullit out. If you do not perform any operation while the camera and computer are connected, aconfirmation message appears on the computer screen asking whether you wish tocontinue communicating with the camera for some computer systems. If you do notperform any operation even after this message appears, the communication with thecamera is terminated. To re-establish the communication, press the shutter buttondown halfway or set the camera’s power switch to and then back to . Do not put your computer to sleep while it is connected to the camera.If your computer goes into the sleep mode, never disconnect the dedicated cablewhile your computer is still in the sleep mode. Always wake your computer up while itis connected to the camera. On some types of computer, disconnecting the dedicatedIEEE1394 cable while your computer is in sleep mode could prevent the computerfrom waking up correctly. Refer to the computer User’s Manual for more informationon sleep mode. When the camera is connected to a computer, you should use the DC Coupler Kit. If your computer has a 4-pin IEEE1394 port, use a Canon 4-pin to 4-pin IEEE1394cable (optional).1 Remove the memory card from the camera.2 Load the card into the card reader.
