External Connections76Connect the camcorder to a TV to enjoyyour recordings with family and friends.Playback on an HDTV using one of thehigh-definition connections will ensurethe best playback quality.1 Turn off the camcorder and the TV.2 Connect the camcorder to the TV.Refer to Connection Diagrams( 74) and select the mostappropriate connection for your TV.3 Turn on the connected TV.On the TV, select as the video inputthe same terminal to which youconnected the camcorder. Refer tothe instruction manual of theconnected TV.4 Turn on the camcorder and set itto mode ( 33) ormode ( 57).Start the playback of movies or stillimages.NOTES• We recommend powering thecamcorder using the compact poweradapter.• Sound from the built-in speaker will bemuted while the STV-250N Stereo VideoCable is connected to the camcorder.• Connection or : When you playback your 16:9 movies on standard TVsets with a 4:3 aspect ratio, the TV setwill switch automatically to widescreenmode if it is compatible with the WSSsystem. Otherwise, change the aspectratio of the TV manually.Playback on a TV Screen( 22)About the HDMI terminalThe HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) connection ( ) is a convenient all-digital connection using a single cable for both video and audio. When you connect thecamcorder to an HDTV equipped with an HDMI terminal, you can enjoy video and audioplayback at the highest quality.- The HDMI OUT mini terminal on the camcorder is for output only. Do not connect it toan HDMI output terminal on an external device, as this may damage the camcorder.- Correct operation cannot be guaranteed when connecting the camcorder to DVImonitors.- Depending on the HDTV, correct playback of personal video content may not be possibleusing connection . Try one of the other connections.- While the camcorder is connected to an HDTV using connection , there will no videooutput from other terminals.
