1-4 Introduction Chapter 1m Place the MultiPASS on a sturdy level surface. Do not place it on anunstable cart, stand, or table. If the unit falls, it could be seriouslydamaged.m Do not use the MultiPASS near water. If you spill liquid on or intothe unit, unplug it immediately and call the Customer Care Center.m Slots and openings in the unit and on the back or bottom are providedfor ventilation. To ensure reliable operation of the MultiPASS and toprotect it from overheating, do not block or cover these openings. Donot block the openings by placing the unit on a bed, sofa, rug, or othersimilar surface. Do not place the unit near a radiator, nor in a closet orbuilt-in cabinet unless proper ventilation is provided.m Operate the MultiPASS only from the type of power source indicatedon the unit’s label. If you are unsure of the type of power available,consult your dealer or local power company.m Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord, and do not locatethe MultiPASS where the cord will be walked on. Make sure the powercord is not knotted or kinked.m Do not push metal objects of any kind into the slots or openings onthe cabinet. This could result in a risk of fire or electric shock.m Do not allow small objects (such as pins, paper clips, or staples) to fallinto the MultiPASS. If something does fall into it that you cannotremove, unplug the unit immediately and call the Customer CareCenter.m Unplug this product from the wall outlet and call the Customer CareCenter if any of the following conditions exist:• The power cord or plug is damaged or frayed.• Liquid is spilled into the unit, or if the unit is exposed to rainor water.• Smoke, unusual noises, or odors come from the unit.• The unit has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.• The unit does not operate normally when you have followed theoperating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are coveredby the operating instructions in the Quick Start Guide and thisUser’s Manual. Improper adjustment of other controls may resultin damage and may require extensive work by a qualifiedtechnician to restore the product to normal operation.
