ReceivingYou can select these options using the MultiPASS Desktop Manager or the operation panel. If you are using the operation panel, see the online Stand-alone Fax Manual.Faxes Manually: MANUAL MODEIn MANUAL MODE, if you connect a telephone to your unit, you can use the telephone to receivenormal telephone calls and also to activate your MultiPASS to start receiving a document. If youplace the extension phone away from the MultiPASS (on your desk, for example) and activatereceiving from this phone, this is called remote receiving:Receiving Faxes Automatically: FAX ONLY MODEWhen the MuItiPASS is set up for a dedicated line, set FAX ONLY MODE to automatically receivedocuments whenever a call comes over the fax line.Receiving With an Answering Machine: ANS.MACHINE MODEConnecting an answering machine to the MultiPASS allows you to receive faxes and phonemessages while you are out of the office.In ANS.MACHINE MODE, the MultiPASS allows the answering machine to answer incomingcalls, then listens for the fax tone and automatically receives the fax if it detects this tone.Chapter 6 Receiving Faxes 6-5
