Start HereEasy Setup InstructionsLoading PaperThis machine offers two paper sources to loadprinting paper; the Rear Tray, found at the topof the machine, and the Front Tray, found atthe front of the machine.NoteAt purchase, the machine is set to feed fromthe Rear Tray.You can load A4, Letter, or B5-sized plainpaper in the Front Tray. When using any othertype of paper, load it in the Rear Tray.For loading paper in the Front Tray, refer to“Loading Paper” in the Quick Start Guide.Rear TrayFront TrayLoading Paper in the Rear Traya Load the paper in the Rear Traywith the print side facing UP.b Align the paper stack against theCover Guide on the right side ofthe Paper Support.c Pinch the Paper Guide and slideit against the left side of the paperstack.Cover GuidePaper Guide Print side facing UP.•••Photo All-In-OneUnpack the Machine Please confirm the included items against the illustration printed on the lid of the packing box.A USB cable is necessary to connect the machine with your computer.•• ImportantWhen cleaning the exterior of the machine, use a soft cloth to wipe it gently. For details, refer to “Cleaning Your Machine” in the Quick Start Guide.a Place the machine on a flat andhorizontal surface, and do not placeany objects in front of the machine.Open the Sheet Feeder Cover and pullout the Paper Support, and then openthe Front Tray and extend the OutputPaper Support.CautionBefore turning on the machine, remove all theshipping tapes and protective material on the out-side of the machine. Then open the Front Tray.b Plug the power cord in the back of themachine and connect the other end tothe wall outlet.Document CoverImportant• Plug the power cord all the way in, since it maybe difficult to plug.• Make sure that the Document Cover is closed.• Do NOT connect the USB cable at this stage.c Open the Operation Panel, then pressthe ON/OFF button to turn on themachine.The machine will initialize. Wait until the Powerlamp stops fl ashing and remains lit green.1 Prepare the Machined Use the { or } button on theOperation Panel to select the languagefor the LCD, then press the OK button.(1) Press the { or }button to select thelanguage.(2) Press the OKbutton.ImportantIf an unintended language is displayed on theLCD, press the Back button on the OperationPanel to return to the Language selection screen.Once the message “Install the print head andset the ink tank.” appears, go to e.e Lift the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover)open, and set the Scanning UnitSupport to hold the cover. The PrintHead Holder moves to the center.Scanning Unit (Printer Cover)Scanning Unit Supportf Write down the serial number locatedinside the machine. You will need thisto register your product.Serial Number Location3 Install the Ink Tanks2 Install the Print Heada Remove the Print Head from itspackage.CautionThere may be some transparent or light blue inkon the inside of the bag the print head comes in,or the inside of the protective cap - this has noeffect on print quality. Be careful not to get ink onyourself when handling these items.b Remove the orange protective cap fromthe Print Head and discard it.Protective CapPrint Head NozzlesElectrical ContactsNoteDo not touch the print head nozzles and the electricalcontacts.c Firmly raise the Print Head Lock Leveruntil it stops. The Print Head LockLever may feel heavy.d Insert the Print Head.Do not touch!e Push the Print Head to hold it in place,and lower the Print Head Lock Levercarefully.NoteFor the ink tanks compatible with this machine, refer tothe back cover of the Quick Start Guide.a Pull the orange tape in the direction ofthe arrow to peel off the protective fi lmand remove the film completely.If the air hole is blocked with the remaining film, inkmay leak out or may not eject properly.b Twist off and discard the orangeprotective cap located on the bottom ofthe ink tank.Electrical ContactsInk PortProtective CapDo not press!Important• Do not touch the electrical contacts.• Do not touch the ink port.c Insert the ink tank into the right-handslot and press the mark on the inktank until it clicks into place.d Make sure the ink lamp lights red.Refer to the colorguide on the PrintHead Lock Lever.e Lift the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover)slightly to set the Scanning UnitSupport back to its original position,and then gently close the Scanning Unit(Printer Cover).ImportantThe machine starts the preparatory operation.It takes about 2 minutes. Do not start anotheroperation until the machine has stopped makingoperating noises.f When the message “Perform headalignment if colors/lines aremisaligned” is displayed, press the OKbutton. The copy standby screen will bedisplayed.ImportantWhen printing for the first or second time aftersetup, the print will take a minute or two before itbecomes ready to print.NoteIf lines are misaligned or the print result is notsatisfactory, perform the print head alignment.Refer to “Aligning the Print Head” in “RoutineMaintenance” of the Quick Start Guide.If the Alarm lamp is lit and an error message isdisplayed on the LCD, refer to “An Error Message IsDisplayed on the LCD” in “Troubleshooting” of theQuick Start Guide.Hardware setup is complete.••f Make sure that the Print Head isinstalled properly.OKImportant• Be sure that the Print Head Lock Lever ispressed all the way down, and that the PrintHead is locked firmly in place. If the Print Headis tilted forward, or the Print Head Lock Lever ispressed only halfway down, raise the Print HeadLock Lever and remove the Print Head, and thenreinstall the Print Head.• If the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover) is left openfor more than 10 minutes, the Print Head Holdermoves to the right. Close and reopen the Scan-ning Unit (Printer Cover) to return the Holder tothe center. |
