Make sure that the printer is turned on, and that it is connected securely to thecomputer.If the POWER lamp is off, turn the printer on.While the POWER lamp is flashing green, the printer is initializing. Wait until thePOWER lamp stops flashing and remains lit green.If the ALARM lamp is flashing orange, an error may have occurred on theprinter. For details on how to resolve the error, see “ALARM Lamp FlashesOrange” on page 50.Printer is not connected properly. Make sure that the USB cable is plugged in securely to the computer and theprinter.z If you are using a relay device such as a USB hub, disconnect it, connect theprinter directly to the computer, and try printing again. If printing startsnormally, there is a problem with the relay device.Consult the reseller of the relay device for details.z There could also be a problem with the USB cable. The printer has a built-in ink absorber to hold the ink used during Print HeadCleaning, for example.This error message indicates that the ink absorber is nearly full.Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continueprinting.Before the ink absorber becomes completely full, contact a Canon servicerepresentative. (You will need to replace a particular part of the printer.)ImportantCanon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Oncethe ink absorber becomes completely full, printing cannot be performed until theink absorber is replaced.
