23About CF CardsCF cards are high-precision electronicdevices. Do not bend them, apply force tothem, or subject them to shocks or vibration.Do not attempt to disassemble or alter a CFcard.Moving a CF card rapidly between tempera-ture extremes will cause condensation to formin the card and lead to a malfunction. To avoidcondensation, place the CF card in a sealedplastic bag before moving it into a differenttemperature zone and allow it to adjust slowlyto the new temperature. If condensationforms on the CF card, store it at roomtemperature until the water droplets haveevaporated naturally.Do not use or store CF cards in the followingtypes of location.• Locations subject to dust or sand• Locations subject to high humidity and hightemperatures Preparing the Camera WARNINGNever use damaged batteries or batteries whose outerseal is completely or partially missing or peeled off, asthere is risk that such batteries may leak, overheat, orburst. Always check the seals on store-bought batter-ies before loading them, as some batteries may comewith defective seals. Do not use batteries with defec-tive seals.Never use batteries that look like this.Batteries with all or part of the seal(electrical insulation sheath) peeledoff. The positive electrode (plus terminal)is flat. The negative terminal is correctlyformed (protruding from the metalbase), but the seal does not extendup over the edge of the metal base.Battery Status IndicationsThe LCD monitor displays an icon or messageto let you know when batteries are low ordepleted.Batteries are beginning to run low.Replace (or recharge) batteriespromptly.
