4● Do not pull directly on the power cord. Whendisconnecting the power cord, grasp the plug andremove it from the outlet.● Keep the area around the power plug clear ofobjects so that the power cord can bedisconnected easily in an emergency.● Use only the AC adapter provided with thisscanner. Also, do not use the AC adapter providedwith the scanner with any other electrical devices.Model: MG1-3968● If you have any questions regarding the powersupply, contact your local authorized Canon dealeror service representative for further information.❏ Moving the Scanner● When moving the scanner, always hold it with bothhands to avoid dropping it. The weight of thescanner unit is approximately 3.4 kg.● Before moving the scanner, make sure thedocument tray is closed and the interface cableand AC adapter are disconnected. If the scanner istransported with these items connected, the plugsand connectors may be damaged due toexcessive force applied to them during movement.❏ HandlingWARNINGNote the following precautions whenever using thescanner. Failure to do so may result in a fire orelectric shock.■ Never use alcohol, benzene, paint thinner, aerosolsprays, or any other highly flammable substancenear the scanner.■ Do not cut, damage, or modify the power cord orAC adapter. Do not place heavy objects on thepower cord or AC adapter, and do not pull orexcessively bend the power cord.■ Never connect the power cord when your handsare wet.■ Do not connect the scanner to a multiplug powerstrip.■ Do not knot or coil the power cord, as this mayresult in a fire or electric shock. When connectingthe power cord, make sure that the power plug issecurely and completely inserted into the poweroutlet.■ Do not use power cords and AC adapters otherthan the power cord and AC adapter provided withthis scanner.■ Never try to take the scanner apart or modify it inany way.■ Never try to take the AC adapter apart or modify itin any way, as this is dangerous and may lead to afire or electric shock.■ Do not use flammable aerosol sprays near thescanner.■ When cleaning the scanner, turn the power OFFand disconnect the power cord from the powersupply.■ Clean the scanner using a slightly dampened clothwhich has been well wrung out. Never use alcohol,benzene, paint thinner, or any other flammablesubstances.
