Panel backlightIf the panel is too dark to read, push and release the LIGHT/MULTI(HZ) button to activate thebacklight. The backlight will automatically extinguish after 8 seconds.Flash TestSwitch your flash ON and wait for the flash to charge. When the READY light glows, push the testbutton on the flash. The flash should fire an unmetered burst, and begin to recharge. This can beused 1) to verify electronic and flash tube function; 2) to check whether to replace the battery whenrecharging time is prolonged; 3) to fire the flash without the camera, such as during bulb exposuresor painting with light.Note: If you have activated the metering function on your camera, the flash TEST button might bedisabled because of flash exposure lock. If so, turn either your camera or your Speedlite OFF, thenON.TiltPull the the flash head up to adjust flash direction. The tilt range is directly ahead (0°) to directlyupward (90°). Click stops at 60° and 75° are marked on the tilt-scale.Note: If the autozoom function is active, tilting away from 0° will zoom the head to 50mmcoverage. This can be overridden by manual zoom.SwivelTo swivel the flash head, push and hold the swivel latch in the direction of the arrow, the turn thehead left or right to the desired direction. The swivel range is up to 180° left, or 90° right, withclick stops at 60° and 75°.Note: If the autozoom function is active, tilting away from 0° will zoom the head to 50mmcoverage. This can be overridden by manual zoom.Manual OperationZoomThe angle of coverage can be changed. Switch the flash ON, then push the ZOOM button to cyclefrom automatic ("A ZOOM") through one of six manual zoom settings ("M Zoom"). The flashcoverage is specified in terms of focal length for hotshoe mounted flash pointed directly at thesubject, using 35mm film. Select the angle of coverage suitable for the subject and the lens andcamera used. If too narrow a beam is used, objects around the edges of the photograph might not belit adequately and may appear dark.
