Batteries should be replaced once a year. Use 2 batteries (1.5v, dc-type, AAA alkaline batteries). Never use old or re-charged batteries together with new ones.To replace batteries:1. Slide the battery cover off from the back of the remotecontroller. See Fig. 21.2. Insert the 2 batteries in accordance with the markingson the remote controller, so that the poles are correct(+ and −).RST3. Press the button using an instrument screwdriveror similar small, pointed tool.4. Replace the cover securely.It is time to replace the remote controller batteries whenthe remote controller function becomes irregular, or the sys-tem no longer responds to commands given close to the unit.When shutting down the system for an extended period oftime, it is advisable to remove the batteries.Consult distributor if any other equipment is turned on orshows signs of disrupted operation if you use the wirelessremote controller, or if the system is turned on or shows signsof disrupted operation when the remote controller of any otherequipment is used.To Set the Current TimeTA1. Press the button (located on the back of the remotecontroller; see Fig. 22) with an instrument screwdriver orsimilar small, pointed tool, and the current time indica-tion symbol flashes.Note that the controller comes preset from the factory set for6:00 a.m.2. Set the current time with the hour and minute buttons onthe front of the remote controller (see Fig. 21) while thecurrent time indication is flashing. Note that a.m. and p.m.are also indicated as the times are scrolled through.TA3. Press again. The flashing will stop and the currenttime will be reset to the new setting.To Remove and Clean or Replace Air FiltersOperating your system with dirty air filters may damagethe indoor unit and can also cause reduced cooling per-formance, intermittent system operation, frost build-upon the indoor coil, and blown fuses. Inspect and cleanor replace the air filters monthly.TO REMOVE AIR FILTERS1. Open fan coil unit front panel (lift). See Fig. 23.2. Pull the filters down to remove.TO CLEAN OR REPLACE FILTERS — Filters should bevacuumed and washed with warm water (see Fig. 23). Shakefilter to remove any excess water, dry thoroughly, and re-place by sliding filter behind front grille until filter snaps inplace.If the filter has begun to break down or is torn, it needs tobe replaced. Replacement filters are available through yourCarrier distributor.To Clean Indoor Unit Front Panel — If the frontpanel of the unit becomes dirty or smudged, wipe the out-side of the front panel with a soft dry cloth. If necessary, usea mild liquid detergent and wipe off carefully with a dry cloth.When cleaning the front panel, NEVER use waterhotter than 105 F, and DO NOT pour water onto the fancoil unit. Do not use abrasive or petroleum-based clean-ers — damage to unit appearance will result.To Clean Indoor Coil — To clean the coil, remove in-door unit front panel, and vacuum the coil fins.
