Draining the Water• Holes are provided on the base plate of theoutdoor unit to ensure that the defrost waterproduced during heating operations is drained offefficiently. If a centralized drain is required when installing theunit on a balcony or wall, follow the steps below todrain off the water.1. Proceed with water-proofing by installing thewater-proof rubber caps in the 2 elongatedholes on the base plate of the outdoor unit. [Howto install the water-proof rubber caps]1) Place four fingers into each cap, and insertthe caps into the water drain holes by pushingthem into place from the underside of thebase plate.2) Press down on the outer circumferences ofthe caps to ensure that they have beeninserted tightly.(Water leaks may result if the caps have notbeen inserted properly, if their outer circumfer-ences lift up or the caps catch on or wedgeagainst something.)Fig. 10-4-32. Install the drain nipple and a commerciallyavailable drain hose (with 16 mm inside diam-eter), and drain off the water.(For the position where the drain nipple isinstalled, refer to the installation diagram of theindoor and outdoor units.)• Check that the outdoor unit is horizontal, androute the drain hose at a downward slopedangle while ensuring that it is connected tautly.Do not use ordinary garden hose, but one canflatten and prevent water from draining.Fig. 10-4-4Commercially availabledrain hoseBase plate 9 Drain nipple10-4-4.
