CL-1SAFETY CONSIDERATIONSInstallation and servicing of air-conditioning equipment canbe hazardous due to system pressure and electrical compo-nents. Only trained and qualified service personnel shouldinstall, repair, or service air-conditioning equipment.Untrained personnel can perform basic maintenance func-tions of cleaning coils and filters and replacing filters. All otheroperations should be performed by trained service personnel. When working on air-conditioning equipment, observe precau-tions in the literature, tags and labels attached to the unit, andother safety precautions that apply.Follow all safety codes. Wear safety glasses and workgloves. Use quenching cloth for unbrazing operations. Havefire extinguishers available for all brazing operations.INSTALLATIONUnit is shipped in the vertical duct configuration. To convertto horizontal configuration, remove and save screws from sideduct opening covers and remove covers. Using the samescrews, install covers on vertical duct openings with theinsulation-side down. Seals around duct openings must betight. See Fig. 1.Confirm before installation of unit that voltage, amperageand circuit protection requirements listed on unit data plateagree with power supply provided.Step 1 — Provide Unit SupportROOF CURB — Assemble and install accessory roof curb inaccordance with instructions shipped with curb. See Fig. 2. In-stall insulation, cant strips, roofing felt, and counter flashing asshown. Ductwork must be attached to curb, not to the unit. Theaccessory thru-the-bottom power and gas connection packagemust be installed before the unit is set on the roof curb. If field-installed (thru-the-roof curb) gas connections are desired, usefactory-supplied 3/4-in. pipe coupling and gas plate assembly tomount the thru-the-roof curb connection to the roof curb. Gasconnections and power connections to the unit must be fieldinstalled after the unit is installed on the roof curb.If electric and control wiring is to be routed through thebasepan, attach the accessory thru-the-bottom service connec-tions to the basepan in accordance with the accessory installa-tion instructions.Disconnect gas piping from unit when leaktesting at pressure greater than 1/2 psig. Pres-sures greater than 1/2 psig will cause gasvalve damage resulting in hazardous condi-tion. If gas valve is subjected to pressuregreater than 1/2 psig, it must be replacedbefore use. When pressure testing field-supplied gas piping at pressures of 1/2 psigor less, a unit connected to such piping mustbe isolated by manually closing the gasvalve. Before performing service or maintenance operations onunit, turn off main power switch to unit and install a lock-out tag. Electrical shock could cause personal injury.IMPORTANT: The gasketing of the unit to the roof curb iscritical for a watertight seal. Install gasket supplied with theroof curb as shown in Fig. 2. Improperly applied gasket canresult in air leaks and poor unit performance.48TF004-00748TM004-007Single-Package RooftopHeating/Cooling Units
