Electric shock could cause serious injury or death.STARTING OR SHUTTING UNIT OFF1. To start this unit:a. Turn on the electrical power supply to unit.b. Select temperature and set SYSTEM switch or MODEcontrol to desired mode.2. To shut this unit off:NOTE: If the unit is being shut down because of a malfunction,call your dealer as soon as possible.a. Set system SWITCH or MODE control to OFF.b. Turn off the electrical power supply to unit and installlock-out tag.OPERATING YOUR ELECTRIC AIR CONDITIONERThe operation of your system is controlled by the indoor thermo-stat. You simply adjust the thermostat and it maintains the indoortemperature at the level you select. Most thermostats have 3controls: a temperature control selector, a FAN control, and aSYSTEM or MODE control. Refer to your thermostat owner’smanual for more information.To better protect your investment and to eliminate unnecessaryservice calls, familiarize yourself with the following facts:Step 1—Cooling ModeWith the SYSTEM or MODE control set to COOL, your unit willrun in cooling mode until the indoor temperature is lowered to thelevel you have selected. On extremely hot days, your system willrun for longer periods at a time and have shorter “off” periods thanon moderate days.Step 2—Heating Mode (with optional electric heaters)Your system may have optional electric heaters for use whenheating is desired.With the SYSTEM or MODE control of your indoor thermostat setto HEAT, your unit will run in heating mode until room tempera-ture is raised to the level you have selected. Of course, your systemwill run for longer periods to maintain a comfortable environmenton cooler days and nights than on moderate ones.MAINTENANCE AND SERVICEThis section discusses maintenance that should be performed byyour dealer.ROUTINE MAINTENANCEAll routine maintenance should be handled by skilled, experiencedpersonnel. Your dealer can help you establish a standard proce-dure.For your safety, keep your unit area clear and free of combustiblematerials, gasoline, and other flammable liquids and vapors.To assure proper functioning of your unit, flow of condenser airmust not be obstructed from reaching the unit. Clearance from thetop of the unit is 48 in. (1220 mm). Clearance of at least 42 in.(1070 mm) is required on sides, except the duct side which has a12 in.
