23DESCRIPTION OF SELECTOR SWITCHSETTINGS (Figure 44) OFF MODE — The OFF position terminates unitoperation. FAN ONLY MODE — Use fan only position for aircirculation without heating or cooling. Fan runs athigh speed. HIGH HEAT OR HIGH COOL MODE — Positionselector and temperature control knobs to desired com-fort level. This function provides maximum heating orcooling, and is recommended to raise or lower the roomtemperature quickly. LOW HEAT OR LOW COOL MODE — Positionselector and temperature control knobs to desired com-fort level. This function provides minimum heatingor cooling with maximum dehumidification duringcooling. This setting also allows for very quiet fanoperation. FINDING TEMPERATURE SETTING FOR COM-FORT LEVEL — Set temperature knob in the middle.Select High Heat, Low Heat or Cool position and allowunit to run for 15 to 30 minutes. If room is not comfort-able, turn knob setting slowly to change setting. Whenroom is comfortable, keep control knob at thatposition.NON-USER ADJUSTABLE CONTROLS OUTSIDE OR VENT AIR — Slide the vent lever tothe fully open position for outside air or fully closedposition for vented air. FAN CYCLE — The fan cycle switch allows the fanto operate in 2 modes:CON — Fan runs continuously, circulating air evenwhen the temperature setting has been satisfied. Thishelps to maintain the room temperature closer to thethermostat setting.CYC —Fan cycles on and off with the compressorduring heating or cooling. Fan stops when the temper-ature setting is satisfied. This results in longer unitoff-time and slightly larger variations in room temper-ature and humidity. OUTDOOR THERMOSTAT (52CQ, PQ Units Only)— The outdoor thermostat has 2 operating modes. Theheat pump mode (selector screw set fully clockwise),allows the unit to operate normally in the reverse cyclemode. The electric heat mode (selector screw set fullycounterclockwise), disables all compressor operatingmodes, both heating and cooling for units withmounted controls. For wall thermostat controlled mod-els the compressor is only disabled in heating and stillallowed to run in cooling.TYPICAL 52C UNIT CONTROLS TYPICAL 52C UNIT WITHWALL THERMOSTAT CONTROLS (Blank Plate)FIGURE 44 — TYPICAL CONTROL PANEL (52C Unit Shown)
