Paint thinners and other painting compounds, paper bags,or other paper products.A failure to follow this warning could result in corrosion ofthe heat exchanger, fire, personal injury, or death.Turn off the gas and electrical supplies to the unit beforeperforming any maintenance or service. Follow the operatinginstructions on the label attached to the furnace. A failure tofollow this warning could result in personal injury.The minimum maintenance on this equipment is as follows:1. Check and clean air filter each month or more frequently ifrequired. Replace if torn.2. Check blower motor and wheel for cleanliness each heatingand cooling season. Clean as necessary.3. Check electrical connections for tightness and controls forproper operation each heating season. Service as necessary.4. Inspect burner compartment before each heating season forrust, corrosion, soot or excessive dust. If necessary, havefurnace and burner serviced by a qualified professional.5. Inspect the vent pipe/vent system before each heating seasonfor rust, corrosion, water leakage, sagging pipes or brokenfittings. Have vent pipes/vent system serviced by a qualifiedprofessional.6. Inspect any accessories attached to the furnace such as ahumidifier or electronic air cleaner. Perform any service ormaintenance to the accessories as recommended in the acces-sory instructions.Personal injury can result from sharp metal edges, etc. Becareful when removing parts. Gloves and safety glassesshould be worn when servicing equipment.CLEANING AND/OR REPLACING AIR FILTERThe air filter arrangement may vary depending on the application.NOTE: If the filter has an airflow direction arrow, the arrow mustpoint towards the blower.Never operate unit without a filter or with filter access doorremoved. A failure to follow this warning could result in fire,personal injury, or death.Media cabinet filter procedures:NOTE: Media cabinet is included with variable speed furnace.1. Turn off electrical supply to furnace before removing filteraccess door.2. Remove filter cabinet door.3. Slide filter out of cabinet.4. If equipped with permanent, washable 1″ filter, clean filter byspraying cold tap water through filter in opposite direction ofairflow. Rinse filter and let dry. Oiling or coating of the filteris not recommended. Turn on electrical supply to furnace.BLOWER MOTOR AND WHEELThe following steps should be performed by a qualified servicetechnician.To ensure long life and high efficiency, clean accumulated dirt andgrease from blower wheel and motor annually.The inducer and blower motors are pre-lubricated and require noadditional lubrication. These motors can be identified by theabsence of oil ports on each end of the motor.Clean blower motor and wheel as follows:1. Turn off electrical supply to furnace.2. Loosen the thumbscrew on outer door and then remove outerdoor.3. For downflow or horizontal furnaces having vent pipes withinthe furnace that pass in front of the blower access door:a. Disconnect vent connector from furnace vent elbow.b. Disconnect and remove short piece of vent pipe fromwithin furnace.4. Remove 2 screws from blower access door and remove bloweraccess door.5. Disconnect blower leads from furnace control. Notice wirecolor and location for reassembly. All other factory wires canbe left connected, but field thermostat connections may needto be disconnected depending on their length and routing.6. Remove 2 screws from control box to blower shelf.7. Hang control box from front of furnace casing and away fromblower compartment.8. Remove 2 screws holding blower assembly to blower deckand slide blower assembly out of furnace.9. Clean blower wheel and motor using a vacuum with soft brushattachment. Blower wheel blades may be cleaned with a smallpaint or flux brush. Do not remove or disturb balance weights(clips) on blower wheel blades.10. Vacuum any loose dust from blower housing, wheel andmotor.38
