the low-gas heat on time (from 0 to 16 minutes) which ispermitted before switching to high-gas heat.If the power is interrupted, the stored history is erased, and thecontrol CPU selects low-gas heat for up to 16 minutes andthen switches to high-gas heat as long as the thermostatcontinues to "call for heat". Subsequent selection is based onstored history of the thermostat cycle times.When the wall thermostat "calls for heat," the R-W1 circuitcloses. The furnace control performs a self-check, verifies thelow-heat and high-heat pressure switch contacts LPS and HPSare open, and starts the inducer motor IDM in low speed orhigh speed as appropriate.a. Inducer prepurge period—As the inducer motor IDMcomes up to low speed or high speed, the low-heat pressureswitch contacts LPS (or LPS and HPS) close to begin a15-sec prepurge period.b. Ignitor warm-up—At the end of the prepurge period, thehot surface ignitor HSI is energized for a 17-sec ignitorwarm-up period.c. Trial-for-ignition sequence—When the ignitor warm-upperiod is completed, the main gas valve relay contactsMGVR-1 and -2 close to energize the low-heat gas valvesolenoid GV, the gas valve opens, and 24-v power issupplied for a field-installed humidifier at terminals HUMand Com. The low-heat gas valve solenoid GV permits gasflow to the burners where it is ignited. After 5 sec, theignitor HSI is de-energized, and a 2-sec flame-provingperiod begins.If the furnace control CPU selects high-gas-heat operation,the high-heat gas valve solenoid GV is also energized afterthe normally closed high-heat pressure switch relay HPSRcloses and after the inducer motor IDM goes to high speedand provides sufficient pressure to close the high-heatpressure switch HPS. HPSR is open while the furnace ispowered in standby mode.
