If this doesnot solve the problem, go to Step 5, even if ACTUALGUIDE VANE POSITION is greater than 60%.5. If ACTUAL GUIDE VANE POSITION is greater than30% but less than 60% or if Step 2 failed (with ACTUALGUIDE VANE POSITION less than 30) or if Step 4failed (with ACTUAL GUIDE VANE POSITION great-er than 60), then perform this step. Do not changeSURGE LINE SHAPE FACTOR from the value speci-fied by Chiller Builder (ECAT). Reset SURGE DELTATSMIN and SURGE DELTA TSMAX to the value spec-ified by Chiller Builder (ECAT). Decrease SURGE DEL-TA TSMIN and SURGE DELTA TSMAX in steps of 1°Fup to 5 times. Monitor chiller for surge.If the drive does not slow down adequately at part load, thenthe machine may be operating at a point above the configured“software” surge line and the machine is in surge preventionmode. Check for a surge protection message on the HMI. If theunit is not in a surge protection state, then the ENVELOPESPEED FACTOR may need to be increased (more aggressivesurge line protection) in combination with a decrease in theSURGE LINE SHAPE FACTOR.OPERATING INSTRUCTIONSOperator Duties1. Become familiar with the chiller and related equipmentbefore operating the chiller.2. Prepare the system for start-up, start and stop the chiller,and place the system in a shutdown condition.3. Maintain a log of operating conditions and document anyabnormal readings.4. Inspect the equipment, make routine adjustments, andperform a Control Test. Maintain the proper refrigerantlevels.5. Protect the system from damage during shutdown periods.6. Maintain the set point, time schedules, and other PICfunctions.Prepare the Chiller for Start-Up — Follow the stepsdescribed in the Initial Start-Up section, page 33.To Start the Chiller1. Start the water pumps, if they are not automatic.2. Press the Start/Stop icon on the HMI home screen to startthe system.
