32INITIAL START--UP OF HRP SYSTEMCAUTION!UNIT DAMAGE AND/OR OPERATION HAZARDFailure to follow this caution may result in unit damageand/or improper equipment operation.Make sure all valves in heat recovery water piping systemare open. NEVER OPERATE HR PUMP DRY.1. Turn on the heat pump. The HR pump should not run if thecompressor is not running.2. Turn HR switch to the “ON” position. The pump will oper-ate if entering water temperature to HR is below 140_F(60_C) and compressor discharge temp is above 120_F(48.9_C) .3. The temperature difference between the water entering andleaving the heat recovery should be 5_F to 15_F (--15_C to--9.4_C).4. Allow the unit to operate for 20 to 30 minutes to ensure it isfunctioning properly.HRP TroubleshootingThe HR pump will be enabled when compressor dischargetemperature is 120_F (48.9_C)or above. The circulating pump will be disabled if water temperature reaches140_F (60_C) or amperage exceeds 0.4 amps.HRP TroubleshootingProblem Possible Cause Checks and CorrectionsNO FLOWLOW FLOWNo Power Check power supplyOn/Off Switch Position Set switch to “ON” positionCompressor Contactor Engage heat pump contactorBroken or loose wires Repair or tighten wiresAir Lock Purge air from piping systemStuck pump shaft/impeller Remove pump cartridge and cleanDefective pump Replace pumpKinked or under sized water piping Repair kink and check for proper line sizeHIGH WATERTEMPERATURE Water temp limit closed Stuck limit switchSensor not attached securely to lineLOW HEAT OUTPUT Clean heat exchangerScaled or fouled heat exchanger
