E-8Playing with Different TonesNOTE• Of the Digital Piano's 18 built-in tones, the first fiveare grand piano tone. Each tone has its owndistinctive merits, so you should select the tone thatsuits the song you are playing along with or yourown personal preferences. The MODERN, CLASSIC,and MELLOW tones are assigned to buttons forquick and easy selection.Bass Tones (BASS 1, BASS 2)Selecting either of the two BASS (LOWER) tones (1 or2) in step 2 of the above procedure will assign theselected bass tone to the low range (left side) of thekeyboard. The high range (right side) will be assignedthe tone that was selected when you pressed theBASS 1 or BASS 2 key.• BASS 1 and BASS 2 let you effectively split thekeyboard between two different tones.NOTE• To return the keyboard to a single tone, select anytone other than BASS 1 or BASS 2.• You cannot select BASS 1 or BASS 2 when recordingto Track 2.1. While holding down the FUNCTION button,use the BRILLIANCE keys to specify abrilliance value in the range of –3 to 0 to 3.NOTE• To return a tone to its initial default setting “0”,press T and S at the same time.Tone Name CharacteristicsMODERN This tone provides a bright grand pianosound. The volume and timbre of thistone is quick to respond to differentkeyboard pressures, and it hasrelatively strong reverb. This tone is agood choice for dynamic and livelyperformances.CLASSIC This is a natural piano tone that closelyresembles the sound of an acousticgrand piano. Reverb and other effectsare kept to a minimum in order toenhance the impact of piano pedalsoperations (acoustic resonance), formusically delicate expressions.
