12 OPERATING YOUR KETTLE KE 4014OPERATING YOUR KETTLE KE 4014Before first useBefore first use, remove all packaging andadvertising labels / stickers from the kettle.Before using your kettle to prepare hot drinksfor the fi rst time, allow clean water to boil.Fill the cattle with clean water, bring to a boiland then pour the water out. Repeat thisprocedure 3 to 4 times. The kettle is thenready to be used for preparing hot drinks.Your kettle will only operate correctly ifplaced on its base connected to an electricoutlet and if the power button is in the onposition. As soon as the water boils, thekettle will switch off automatically.Heating water to a required temperature1. To fill the kettle with water, remove itfrom its base and detach the lid. Fill thekettle with the required amount of water.Do not fill the kettle below the minimumor above the maximum level mark.Lack of water would lead to turning thekettle off before boiling. If the kettle isoverfilled, the boiling water might splashout.2. Put the lid back and make sure it’s firmlyclosed. Place the kettle on its base.Connect the mains cord to a poweroutlet.3. An acoustic signal will sound. The LCDdisplays“--”.4. Use the +/- buttons to set thetemperature from 50 to 100°C in 5°Csteps. The initial temperature afterturning on for the first time is 80°C.5. Press the power button to start heating.The button will be backlit in red.6. As soon as the temperature inside thekettle reaches 30°C, you will be able towatch it rise until the set value has beenreached.7. When the temperature inside the kettlereaches the set value, an acoustic signalwill sound 5 times and the button will bebacklit in yellow.8. Disconnect the mains cord from thepower outlet, remove the kettle fromits base and pour the water in preparedcups.If you need to turn the kettle off immediately,press the power button. An acoustic signal willsound and the heating process will stop.NOTEFast selection - heating water to 100°C1. If you need to heat water to 100°C,proceed as follows:2. Perform steps 1 to 3 from “Heating waterto a required temperature”.3. Hold down the + button for about2 seconds. An acoustic signal will sound.100°C will appear on the display.4. Press the power button to switch thekettle on.5. If the power button is not pressed within6 seconds, the kettle will be put intostandby and the LCD will show currenttemperature.Fast selection - heating water to 60 °CIf you need to heat water to 60 °C, proceedas follows:1. Perform steps 1 to 3 from “Heating waterto a required temperature”.2. Hold down the - button for about2 seconds. A short acoustic signal willsound. 60°C will appear on the display.3. Press the power button to switch thekettle on.4. If the power button is not pressed within6 seconds, the kettle will be put intostandby and the LCD will show currenttemperature.
