17BACKGUARD INSTALLATIONThe backguard is located as shown in Fig. 14. Securethe backguard to the wall behind the range. Specificinstructions for installation of the full backguard or lowbackguard can be found packaged with the backguard.See also page 8, “Planning The Installation” section. Abackguard must be installed when there is less than a12” clearance between combustibles and the back ofthe range (above the cooking surface). See fig. 13.DCS backguards are sold separately.ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONSRDT-36 & 48 MODELSAlways disconnect electric supply cord from the wall outlet orservice disconnect before servicing this appliance. Observe allgoverning codes and ordinances when grounding, in absenceof which, observe National Electrical Code ANSI / NFPA No. 70.The electrical supply must be a 120/240 volt, 3 wire (plusground) 60 Hz single phase, 50 AMP circuit. The powerreceptacle must be a NEMA 14-50 device to accept the fourprong plug supplied with the unit (Fig. 15). The receptacleshould be located within the area shown in fig. 10, page 14.ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONSRDT-305 MODELThe electrical supply must be a 120/240 volt, 3 wire (plusground), 60 Hz, 30 AMP circuit. The power receptacle must bea NEMA 14-50 device to accept the four prong plug suppliedwith the unit. The receptacle should be located within the areashown in fig. 11, page 15.RECOMMENDED GROUNDING METHODThis appliance is factory equipped with a power supply cord with a four-prong grounding plug. It must beplugged into a mating grounding, type receptacle, connected to a correctly polarized 120/240 volt circuit. If thecircuit does not have a grounding type receptacle, it is the responsibility and obligation of the installer to havethe existing receptacle changed to a properly grounded and polarized receptacle in accordance with allapplicable local codes and ordinances by a qualified electrician.
