23USCACLEANING EXTERIOR SURFACESTEST AND ADJUSTMENTSThe stainless steel surfaces may be cleaned by wiping with a damp soapy cloth or sponge. Any liquid soap (likeDawn or Stainless Steel Magic) will remove fingerprints and smears. Do not use steel wool as it will scratch thissurface.GRIDDLE AND GRILL BURNERS (SOME MODELS ONLY)Check for the proper burner flame characteristics and adjust air shuttersif necessary (Fig. 20). Each valve and air shutter is individually testedand adjusted prior to shipment. Normally adjustment is not required, however, vibration during transit, gas conversion or variations in thelocal gas supply may make minor adjustments necessary. Burner flamesshould be blue and stable with no yellow tips, excessive noise or liftingof the flame from the burner. If any of these conditions exist, check thatthe air shutter or burner ports are not blocked. If this condition persists, adjust the air shutter as required. If the flame is too yellow, indicatinginsufficient air, adjust the shutter counterclockwise to increase air inlet. If the flame is noisy or tends to lift away from the burner, indicating toomuch air, turn the shutter clockwise to reduce air. The griddle flamesshould be 1-1/2” to 2”. The grill burner flames should be 3/8” to 5/8”(Fig. 21).INFRARED BROIL AND OVEN BAKE BURNERS(RGU AND RGUC MODELS ONLY)CAUTION:The oven infrared broiler burner has no air shutter and is notadjustable. The oven bake burner has an air shutter and isadjustable. It is necessary to operate the oven broiler for 20-30minutes to eliminate the harsh odor of the insulation binder. This must be done before using the range for the first time andwith proper ventilation.Check for the proper burner flame characteristics. Burnerflames should be blue and stable with no yellow tips, excessivenoise or lifting of the flame from the burner. If any of theseconditions exist, check that the air shutter (oven burner only)(Fig. 20) or burner ports are not blocked. If this condition persists, contact a qualified technician. The oven burner flames should be 1-1/2” to 2” (Fig. 21). The infrared broil burner flames should be approximately1/8” high over the entire burner screen (Fig. 22).INFRARED BROIL BURNERBLUE FLAMEFig. 221-1/2" ~ 2"Typical Section of Proper Flame3/8" ~ 5/8"(Grill)(Griddle)Fig. 21Typical Section of Proper FlameGriddle, OvenBake1-1/2” – 2” 3/8” – 5/8”GrillFig. 20air shutter
