2Getting StartedBefore operating the cooktop, clean theglass ceramic surface carefully as outlinedin the Care and Cleaning Instructions. Thecooktop surface must be free of any foreignsubstances, especially those that could meltand permanently adhere to the glass.During the first uses of your new cooktop, youmay smell a slight burning odor or see lightsmoke. Both of these conditions are normal innew glass ceramic cooktops.Heating ElementsDacor glass ceramic cooktops contain ribbontype radiant heating elements in various sizes toallow the user the greatest cooking flexibility.The Ribbon Radiant Heaters illuminate withinapproximately 3-4 seconds of activation. TheDual Element consists of two elements whichmay be operated simultaneously for heavycooking demands. The inner element may beoperated alone for improved simmering withsmaller utensils.All elements feature temperature limiters toensure that the safe operating temperature ofthe glass ceramic top is never exceeded.Dacor glass ceramic cooktops operate byautomatically cycling the heating elementsbetween “off” and full power. As the numericsetting of the control is increased, the elementwill stay at full power for longer periods and atzero power for shorter durations.When the element is set to the dual range, boththe inner and outer elements will cycle on andoff at the same time. (The outer heating elementcan never be operated alone.)For maximum performance from any burnerremember to closely match heating elementdiameters and cookware size.Residual Heat Indicator LightsAll Dacor glass cooktops have element residualheat indicator lights. These indicating lightsremain illuminated until the burner cools down toa safe temperature of 140ºF.ImpORTANT:Be certain that the cookware and glasssurfaces are clean and dry before you turnon the burner and place a pot or pan on theheating burner.Element ON Indicator LightOne light indicating power is on to any of theelements.Setting the ControlsNOTE:When at its highest setting, the heatingelement may cycle off due to the protectionof the temperature limiter built into eachelement. This temperature limiting occursautomatically to prevent exceeding themaximum allowable surface temperature andto maintain the constant desired heat level.The element will cycle back on after it hascooled to a safe temperature.Models ETT304-1 and ETT365-2To turn an element on, tap the “ON/OFF” keythen tap the up arrow for the desired element.The element will come on at a setting of “5” andmay be adjusted up or down by pressing theappropriate key.To activate the Dual Element, tap the “ON/OFF”key then tap the Dual Element Indicator toactivate the outer ring of the element. It willcome on at a setting of “5”, then tap the upindicator for desired temperature setting.To turn an element off, tap the “ON/OFF” key.You may turn off all active elements at the sametime by tapping twice on the Dacor logo locatedbelow the controls.ETT304-1 and ETT365-2 Secure LockoutTo avoid accidentally turning the cooktop onwhile cleaning it, activate the “Secure Lockout”feature.To lock out the cooktop:Press and hold the Dacor logo for 3-4 secondsand the cooktop will be secured from use. Youwill hear three beeps and a light will illuminatedirectly above the Dacor logo indicating thatthe cooktop is secure. The control panel is nowdisabled and may be cleaned without activatingany functions.To unlock the cooktop:Press and hold the Dacor logo for 3-4 seconds.You will hear three beeps and the light will goout. The control panel is now ready for use.NOTES:1. For maximum safety, the cooktopwill be in the “lock out” mode whenfirst installed, or whenever poweris interrupted. Follow the “Unlock”instructions above to reactivate thecontrol panel.2. At any time while the element is on, youmay glide your finger up or down the scale toadjust its heat.The dual element, located in the front left burner,can be activated after the “ON/OFF” key hasbeen pressed. At any time during the cookingprocess, the small dual element indicator canbe tapped to turn the element on or off. It willilluminate when the outer ring is activated.To turn an element off, tap the Cancel/ Securekey.
