4Securing the Electronic Keypadto prevent accidental raising or lowering of the vent,secure the electronic keypad so that the keys (buttons) donot function. this feature is especially helpful when youngchildren are present or when cleaning the vent and sur-rounding areas.while the vent is in the fully lowered or fully raised•position, press and the HIGH and loW keys at thesame time for one second. the electronic controlswill secure and the keys will become inoperative. theHIGH and loW key indicator lights will illuminate atthe same time when the controls are secured.to reactivate the controls, press the• HIGH and loWkeys at the same time for one second. the HIGH andloW key indicator lights will go out, indicating thatthe control panel is active again.Operating Your Raised VentOperating Tips:activate the blower a few minutes before starting to•cook to establish an airflow pattern in the room.adjust the fan speed according to the volume and•weight of the cooking exhaust.Reduce the fan speed if the flame on a gas cooktop is•being drawn by the vent system. flame drawing is anormal occurrence with powerful vent systems, espe-cially when installed with short duct runs.always raise the vent intake and activate the blower•whenever using the cooktop or range.eliminate air currents in the vent vicinity by shut-•ting nearby windows and doors, turning off ceilingfans and closing adjacent heating and air conditioningoutlets.place your largest frying pans, skillets and stock pots•on the rear burners whenever possible, as the draft isstrongest closest to the vent intake.Using Delay Offwhen the cooking process is complete,use the Delay off feature to removeany residual smoke and fumes. turn theDelay off function by pressing the DelaYoFF key while the raised vent is on. theblower will continue to run at the selectedfan speed for five minutes, then automati-cally turn off. the vent intake will remainin the fully raised position after the blowershuts off. the intake may be lowered bypressing and releasing the uP/DoWnkey at your convenience.while the blower is operating in Delay offmode, the blower speed may be adjustedto a different speed by pressing theHIGH, meDIum or loW keys.to manually cancel the Delay off func-tion, press and release the oFF key orthe uP/DoWn key. the blower willshut off and if pressing the uP/DoWnkey, the vent will retract.uP/DoWnDelaY oFFoFFloW meDIum HIGHloW meDIum HIGHpress and hold these twobuttons to secure keypad
