CHARGING REFRIGERANTThe outdoor unit is factory charged, but depending on the length ofthe piping when installed, the outdoor unit may require additionalcharging. For charging the additional refrigerant follow the procedure asdescribed in this chapter.11.1. Important information regarding therefrigerant usedThis product contains fluorinated greenhouse gases covered by theKyoto Protocol. Do not vent gases into the atmosphere.Refrigerant type: R410AGWP (1) value: 1975(1) GWP = global warming potentialPlease fill in with indelible ink,■ ➀ the factory refrigerant charge of the product,■ ➁ the additional refrigerant amount charged in the field and■ ➀+➁ the total refrigerant chargeon the fluorinated greenhouse gases label supplied with the product. The filled out label must be adhered on the inside of the product andin the proximity of the product charging port (e.g. on the inside of theservice cover).11.2. Precautions when adding R410ABe sure to charge the specified amount of refrigerant in liquid state tothe liquid pipe.Since this refrigerant is a mixed refrigerant, adding it in gas form maycause the refrigerant composition to change, preventing normaloperation.■ Before charging, check whether the refrigerant cylinder isequipped with a siphon tube or not.■ Be sure to use tools exclusively for R410A to ensure requiredpressure resistance and to prevent foreign materials from mixinginto the system.11.3. Stop valve operation procedureSize of stop valveThe sizes of the stop valves connected to the system are as listed inthe table below.Opening stop valve (See figure 15)1. Remove the cap and turn the valve counterclockwise with thehexagon wrench.2. Turn it until the shaft stops.3. Make sure to tighten the cap securely. Refer to the table belowClosing stop valve (See figure 15)1. Remove the cap and turn the valve clockwise with the hexagonwrench.2. Securely tighten the valve until the shaft contacts the main bodyseal.3. Make sure to tighten the cap securely. For the tightening torque, refer to the table above.Refrigerant can not be charged until all field wiring andfield piping has been completed.Refrigerant may only be charged after performing the leaktest and the vacuum drying.NOTE National implementation of EU regulation on certainfluorinated greenhouse gases may require to providethe appropriate official national language on the unit.Therefor an additional multilingual fluorinatedgreenhouse gases label is supplied with the unit.Sticking instructions are illustrated on the backside ofthat label.Charge the liquidrefrigerant with thecylinder in uprightposition.Charge the liquidrefrigerant with thecylinder in up-side-downposition.356214 1 factory refrigerantcharge of the product:see unit name plate2 additional refrigerantamount charged in thefield3 total refrigerant charge4 Contains fluorinatedgreenhouse gasescovered by the KyotoProtocol5 outdoor unit6 refrigerant cylinderand manifold forchargingCharging with an unsuitable substance may causeexplosions and accidents, so always make sure that theappropriate refrigerant (R410A) is charged.Refrigerant containers must be opened slowly.■ Do not open the stop valve until all piping andelectrical steps of "10. Checking of unit andinstallation conditions" on page 14 are completed. Ifthe stop valve is left open without turning on thepower, it may cause refrigerant to build up in thecompressor, leading to insulation degradation.■ Always use a charge hose for service port connection.■ After tightening the cap, check that no refrigerantleaks are present.Type CMSQ200 CMSQ250Liquid line stop valve Ø9.5Gas line stop valve Ø15.9 Ø19.11 Service port2 Cap3 Hexagon hole4 Shaft5 SealDo not apply excessive force to the stop valve.
