D-EIMAC01706-18EN- 14/32Water treatmentBefore putting the unit into operation, clean the water circuit. The evaporator must not be exposed to flushing velocities or debris released during flushing. It is recommended that asuitably sized bypass and valve arrangement is installed to allow flushing of the piping system. The bypass can be usedduring maintenance to isolate the heat exchanger without disrupting flow to other units.Any damage due to the presence of foreign bodies or debris in the evaporator will not be covered by warranty.Dirt, scales, corrosion debris and other material can accumulate inside the heat exchanger and reduce its heat exchangingcapacity. Pressure drop can increase as well, thus reducing water flow. Proper water treatment therefore reduces the riskof corrosion, erosion, scaling, etc. The most appropriate water treatment must be determined locally, according to the typeof system and water characteristics. The manufacturer is not responsible for damage to or malfunctioning of equipment caused by failure to treat water or byimproperly treated water.Table 1 - Acceptable water quality limitspH (25°C) 6.88.0 Total Hardness [mg CaCO3 / l] 200Electrical conductivity [S/cm] (25°C) 800 Iron [mg Fe / l] 1.0Chloride ion [mg Cl - / l] 200 Sulphide ion [mg S2 - / l] 0Sulphate ion [mg SO24 - / l] 200 Ammonium ion [mg NH4+ / l] 1.0Alkalinity [mg CaCO3 / l] 100 Silica [mg SiO2 / l] 50Operation limitsOperation out of the mentioned limits may damage the unit. In case of any doubt contact the manufacturer representative. To ensure correct operation of the unit, the value of the water flow in the evaporator must be within the declared range forthat unit. A water flow rate much lower than the nominal value shown at the unit selection point can cause problems withfreezing, fouling and poor control. A water flow much higher than the nominal value shown at the unit selection point resultsin an unacceptable loss of load and excessive erosion and vibration of the tubes which can cause them to break; refer tothe Chiller Selection Software (CSS) for the correct range of range of each unit.Fig. 8 - Multi V-Silver Operational limits
