• If the main power supply is turned off duringoperation, operation will restart automaticallyafter the power turns back on again.Read the operation manual attached to theremote controller.6. OPERATION CHARACTERIS-TICSCHARACTERISTICS OF THE COOLINGOPERATION (COOLING OPERATION ANDAUTOMATIC COOLING OPERATION)• If the COOLING OPERATION is used whenthe indoor temperature is low, frost forms onthe heat exchanger of the indoor unit. This candecrease the cooling capacity. In this case, theair conditioner automatically switches to theDEFROST OPERATION for a while.During the DEFROST OPERATION, the low fanspeed is used to prevent the discharge of meltwater. (The remote controller displays the fanspeed that is set.)• When the outdoor temperature is high, it takessome time until the indoor temperature reachesthe set temperature.CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HEATINGOPERATION (HEATING OPERATION ANDAUTOMATIC HEATING OPERATION)START OF OPERATION• It generally takes a longer time for indoortemperature of the HEATING OPERATIONto reach the set temperature compared tothe COOLING OPERATION. It is advisable tostart operation in advance using the TIMEROPERATION.Perform the following operation to preventheating capacity decrease and discharge ofcool air.AT THE START OF OPERATION AND AFTERTHE DEFROST OPERATION• A warm air circulating system is employed, andtherefore it takes some time until the entire roomis warmed up after the start of operation.• The indoor fan runs to discharge a gentle windautomatically until the temperature inside the airconditioner reaches a certain level. At this time, the remote controller displays “ ”. Leave itas it stands and wait for a while.(The remote controller displays the fan speed thatis set.)DEFROST OPERATION(Frost removal operation for the outdoorunit)• As the frost on the coil of an outdoor unitincrease, heating effect decreases and theair conditioner goes into the DEFROSTOPERATION.• The indoor unit fan stops and the remotecontroller display shows “ ”.With the wireless remote controller, the warmair stops, and the DEFROST OPERATION lampon the light receiving unit turn on. (The remotecontroller displays the fan speed that is set.)• After maximum 10 minutes of the DEFROSTOPERATION, the air conditioner returns to theHEATING OPERATION.• During or after the DEFROST OPERATION,white mist comes out from the air inlet or outlet ofthe air conditioner.(Refer to IV. on page 10.)• A hissing and “Shuh” sound may be heard duringthis particular operation.Regarding outside air temperature and heat-ing capacity• The heating capacity of the air conditionerdeclines as the outside air temperature falls. In such a case, use the air conditioner incombination with other heating systems.(When a combustion appliance is used, ventilatethe room regularly.)Do not use the combustion appliance wherethe air from the air conditioner is blown directlytoward it.• When the warm air stays under the ceiling andyour feet are cold, we recommend that you usea circulator (a fan to circulate the air inside theroom). For details, consult your local dealer.• When the indoor temperature exceeds the settemperature, the indoor unit discharges a gentlebreeze (switches to gentle wind). (The remotecontroller displays the fan speed that is set.)CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PROGRAMDRY OPERATION• This operation lowers the humidity withoutlowering the indoor temperature. The indoortemperature when the operation button is pressedwill be the set temperature. At this time, the fanspeed and temperature are set automatically,so the remote controller does not display the fanspeed and set temperature. To efficiently lower the indoor temperature andhumidity, first use the COOLING OPERATIONto lower the indoor temperature, and then usethe PROGRAM DRY OPERATION. When theindoor temperature is lowered, airflow from the airconditioner may stop.English 6
