11 English8. ELECTRIC WIRING WORK• All field supplied parts and materials and electric worksmust conform to local codes.• Use copper wire only.• For electric wiring work, refer also to “WIRING DIAGRAM”attached to the unit body.• For remote controller wiring details, refer to the installationmanual attached to the remote controller.• All wiring must be performed by an authorized electrician.• A circuit breaker capable of shutting down power supply tothe entire system must be installed.• Refer to the installation manual attached to the outdoor unitfor the size of power supply electric wire connected to theoutdoor unit, the capacity of the circuit breaker and switch, and wiring instructions.• Be sure to ground the air conditioner• Do not connect the ground wire to gas pipes, plumbingpipes, lightning rods, or telephone ground wires.• Gas pipes: might cause explosions or fire if gas leaks.• Plumbing: no grounding effect if hard vinyl piping is used.• Telephone ground wires or lightning rods: might causeabnormally high electric potential in the ground duringlighting storms.• Specifications for field wireThe remote control cord should be procured locally. Refer tothe Table 4 when preparing one.Table 4NOTE1. Shows only in case of protected pipes. Use H07RN-F incase of no protection.2. Insulated thickness : 1mm or moreler cords> (Refer to Fig. 32)• Wiring the units connectionsRemove the switch box cover, and align the phases withthose of the power terminal block inside to connect.Securely fix the wires with the included clamp material A,then fix them with the clamp material C likewise.• Remote controller cords connections(not necessary for slave unit of simultaneous operation sys-tem)Connect to the remote controller terminal block. (no polarity)Securely fix the remote controller cord with the includedclamp material B, then fix it with the clamp material D like-wise.CAUTION• When clamping wiring, use the included clamping materialto prevent outside pressure being exerted on the wiring con-nections and clamp firmly. When doing the wiring, makesure the wiring is neat and does not cause the control boxlid to stick up, then close the cover firmly.• When attaching the control box lid, make sure you do notpinch any wires.• After all the wiring connections are done, fill in any gaps inthe through holes with putty or insulation (procured locally)to prevent small animals and insects from entering the unitfrom outside. (If any do get in, they could cause short cir-cuits in the electric box.)• Outside the machine, separate the weak wiring (remote con-trol cord) and strong wiring (interunit, ground, and otherpower wiring) at least 50 mm so that they do not passthrough the same place together. Proximity may cause elec-trical interference, malfunctions, and breakage.CAUTION• Do not connect wires of different gauge to the same powersupply terminal.(Looseness in the connection may cause overheating.)• Observe the notes when wiring to the power supply terminalboard.(Use a round crimp-style terminal with insulation sleeve forconnection to the power supply terminal board. In case itcannot be used due to unavoidable reasons, connect wiresof the same gauge to the both side as shown in Fig. 33.)Follow the instructions below if the wiring gets very hotdue to slack in the power wiring.• In wiring, make certain that prescribed wires are used, carryout complete connections, and fix the wires so that outsideforces are not applied to the terminals.• Use the correct screwdriver for tightening the terminalscrews. If the blade of screwdriver is too small, the head ofthe screw might be damaged, and the screw will not beproperly tightened.• If the terminal screw are tightened too hard, screws mightbe damaged.• Refer to the table below for the tightening torque of the ter-minal screws.Wire Size (mm2) LengthWiring the units H05VV - U4G(NOTE 1) 2.5 —Remotecontroller cordVinyl cord withsheath or cable(2 wire) (NOTE 2) 0.75 - 1.25 Max.500mP1 P2How to connect wiringBlueBlueRemote controller cordClamp AGround terminalClamp BClamp C and DClamp DRemote controllertransmission wirePower supply wireClamp CFig. 32TabWiring the unitsHow to connect power supplyterminal board (4P)Terminal board for remotecontroller (2P)Power supplyterminalboard (4P)1 2 3Tightening torque (N · m)Terminal block for remotecontroller 0.79 to 0.97Terminal block for wiring theunits 1.18 to 1.44Earth terminal 1.44 to 1.94Electric wireRoundcrimp-styleterminalAttach insulation sleeveConnect wires ofthe same gauge toboth side.(GOOD)Do not connect wiresof the same gauge toone side.(WRONG)Fig. 33Do not connectwires of differentgauges.(WRONG)
