SAFETY CONSIDERATIONSRead these SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS carefully beforeinstalling air conditioning equipment, and be sure to install itcorrectly. After completing the installation, make sure that theunit operates properly during the start-up operation.Instruct the customer how to operate and maintain the unit.Inform customers that they should store this Installation Man-ual with the Operation Manual for future reference.Always use a licensed installer or contractor to install thisproduct. Improper installation can result in water or refrigerantleakage, electrical shock, fire, or explosion.Meanings of DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION, and NOTEsymbols are as follows:DANGER .............. Indicates an imminently hazardoussituation which, if not avoided, willresult in death or serious injury.WARNING ............ Indicates a potentially hazardous sit-uation which, if not avoided, couldresult in death or serious injury.CAUTION ...............Indicates a potentially hazardous sit-uation which, if not avoided, mayresult in minor or moderate injury. Itmay also be used to alert againstunsafe practices.NOTE .................... Indicates situations that may resultin equipment or propertydamageaccidents only.DANGER• Refrigerant gas is heavier than air and displaces oxy-gen. A massive leak can lead to oxygen depletion,especially in basements, and an asphyxiation hazardcan occur leading to serious injury or death.• Do not install unit in an area where flammable mate-rials are present due to risk of explosions that cancause serious injury or death.Refrigerant gas may produce toxic gas if it comes in contactwith fire from a fan, heater, stove, cooking device, or otherheat source. Exposure to this gas can cause severe injuryor death.• If equipment utilizing a burner is used in the sameroom as the air conditioner, there is the danger ofoxygen deficiency which can lead to an asphyxiationhazard resulting in serious injury or death.Be sure to sufficiently ventilate the room to avoid this haz-ard.• Any abnormalities in the operation of the air condi-tioner, such as smoke or fire, can result in severeinjury or death.
