Installation manual10Precaution for pumping-down operationThe outdoor unit is equipped with a low pressure switch or a lowpressure sensor to protect the compressor.Take the following steps to perform the pumping-down operation. Preliminary measures• Make sure to cut off power supply.Open the front panel and cover the PCB and terminal board withinsulation sheet to avoid electric shock by accidental touching oflive parts.• Close the front panel before leaving the outdoor unit. You cannotleave the unit unattended in case the front panel remains open.• Turn on the power supply and carry out pumping-down operationaccording to the following procedure. Pump down operation(a) If after finishing pumping-down operation the outdoor unit does not operate, not even when the remote controller switch is turned on, the remote controllermay or may not indicate "U4". But this is not a malfunction.• After finishing the pumping-down operation, make sure tohave removed the insulation sheet that was placed in theswitch box as a protective measure as in chapter"Preliminary measures" on page 10.• When in need of operation, turn off the main power supplyand turn it on again. Make sure that stop valves both onliquid and gas side are open and be sure to operate theunit in cooling operation during test run.Electrical wiring workPrecautions on electrical wiring work Before obtaining access to terminal devices, all supply circuitsmust be interrupted. Use only copper wires. The wiring between the indoor unit and outdoor unit must be for220~240 V. A main switch or other means for disconnection, having acontact separation in all poles, must be incorporated in the fixedwiring in accordance with relevant local and national legislation.Do not turn on the main switch until all the wiring is completed. For W1Make sure to connect power supply cables in normal phase. Ifconnected in reverse phase, the remote controller of the indoorunit indicates "U1" and the equipment cannot operate. Changeany two of the three power supply cables (L1, L2, L3) to correctphase. If the contact in the magnetic switch should be forcibly turned onwhile the equipment is inoperative, the compressor will burn out.Never try to forcibly turn on the contact. Never squeeze bundled cables into a unit. Fix cables so that cables do not make contact with the pipes(especially on high pressure side). Secure the electrical wiring with clamping material as shown inthe figure below so that it does not come in contact with thepiping, particularly on the high-pressure side.Make sure no external pressure is applied to the terminalconnectors. When installing the earth leakage breaker make sure that it iscompatible with the inverter (resistant to high frequencyelectrical noise) to avoid unnecessary opening of the earthleakage breaker. As this unit is equipped with an inverter, installing a phaseadvancing capacitor not only will deteriorate power factorimprovement effect, but also may cause capacitor abnormalheating accident due to high-frequency waves. Therefore, neverinstall a phase advancing capacitor.Never short-circuit the low pressure switch or low pressuresensor during pump-down operation.Procedure Precaution1 Make sure that stop valvesboth on liquid and on gas sideare open.—2 Push the BS4 pumping-downoperation button on the PCboard of the outdoor unit(±8 seconds).Compressor and outdoor fanwill start operationautomatically. The indoor unit fan mayautomatically start running. Please pay attention to this.3 Close the stop valve on theliquid side securely about 2minutes after the compressorstarted operation. (See "Howto use the stop valve" onpage 7)Never leave the outdoor unitunattended with opened frontpanel when power supply ison.In case the stop valve on theliquid side is not securelyclosed during compressoroperation, pumping-downoperation cannot be executed.4 Once compressor operationstops after 2 to 5 minutes(a),close the stop valve on thegas side securely. (See "Howto use the stop valve" onpage 7)5 Turn off the power supply. All field wiring and components must be installed by alicensed electrician and must comply with relevantEuropean and national regulations. All components procured on the site and all electricconstruction should comply with the applicable localand national codes. High voltageTo avoid electrical shock, make sure to disconnect thepower supply 1 minute or more before servicing theelectrical parts. Even after 1 minute, always measurethe voltage at the terminals of main circuit capacitorsor electrical parts and, before touching, make surethat those voltages are 50 V DC or less.To persons in charge of electrical wiring work:Do not operate the unit until the refrigerant piping iscomplete. (Running it before the piping is ready will breakthe compressor.)
