Installation EDUS391004-N80 Installation of Outdoor Units7-3 Leading wire Procedure• The power wiring and ground wiring are passed out from the powerwiring hole on the sides, the front (knock hole) or the bottom frame(knock hole).• The transmission wiring is passed out from the wiring hole (knockhole) on the front of the unit or from a piping hole.(Refer to figure 17-1)1. Electric wiring diagramPrinted on the back of the electrical components box lid.2. Knockout hole3. Power line4. Transmission line(Refer to figure 17-2)1. Electrical components box lid2. Service lid3. [Service precautions] Label locationNOTE• Open the knock holes with a hammer or the like.• After knocking out the holes, we recommend you remove any burrsand paint them using the repair paint to prevent rusting.(Refer to figure 17-1, 2)• When passing wiring through the knock holes, remove burrsaround the knock holes and protect the wiring with protective tape.(Refer to figure 17-1, 2)• If small animals might enter the unit, block off any gaps (hatchingparts in figure 17-1, 2) with material (field supply).7-4 Transmission Wiring Connection Procedure• Referring to figure 18 connect the transmission wiring betweenoutdoor unit and indoor unit, outdoor unit and outdoor unit of othersystem, outdoor unit and outdoor unit of same system.(Refer to figure 18)1. Electrical components box (1)2. Electrical components box (2)3. Do not open the electrical components box (2) lid.(There are no work when installation)4. Never connect the power wire.5. To outdoor unit of other system6. Use duplex wires (No polarity)7. Branch Selector unit8. Indoor unit9. Indoor unit (Cooling only)NOTE• Do not connect the power wiring to terminals for the transmissionwiring. Doing so would destroy the entire system.• When connecting wires to the terminal block on the PC-board, toomuch heat or tightening could damage the PC-board. Attach withcare.See the table below for the tightening torque of the transmissionwiring terminals.• Transmission wiring (About the symbol ~ , see figure 18)should be done within the following limitations. If they are exceeded, transmission problems may occur.Between outdoor unit and Branch Selector (or indoor) unitBetween Branch Selector unit and indoor unitBetween outdoor unit and outdoor unit of other systemsMax. wiring length : 3280 ftMax. total wiring length : 6560 ftMax. no. of branches : 16[Note]No branch is allowed after branch (See figure 19)Max. no. of outdoor units of other systemthat can be connected : 10(Refer to figure 19)1. Branch2. Branch after branchBetween outdoor unit and outdoor unit of same systemMax. wiring length : 100 ft• The transmission wiring inside the electrical components boxshould be secured using the clamp (1) as shown in figure 20.(Refer to figure 20)1. In the electrical components box2. Retain to the electrical components box with the accessoryclamp (1).3. Vinyl tube (accessory)• Outside the units, the transmission wiring must be finishedsimultaneously with the local refrigerant piping, and wound withtape (field supply) as shown in figure 21.(Refer to figure 21)1. Suction gas pipe2. HP/LP gas pipe3. Liquid pipe4. Insulation material5. Finishing tape6. Transmission wiring• Wiring to other systems should be connected to terminals F1 andF2 (TO OUT/D UNIT) on the PC-board of the electricalcomponents box (1).7-5 Power Wiring Connection Procedure• Be sure to connect the power supply wiring to the power supplyterminal block and hold it in place using the included clamp asshown in the figure 22.• The L1, L2, L3 and N phases of the power wiring should besecured separately to the hook using the included clamp (1).• The ground wiring should be bound to the power wiring using theincluded clamp (1) to prevent outside force from being applied tothe terminal area.(Refer to figure 22)1. Clamp (1) (accessory)12. Vinyl tube (accessory)CAUTION• Be sure to use crimp-style terminal with insulating sleeves forconnections. (See the figure below.)• For wiring, use the designated power wire and connect firmly, thensecure to prevent outside pressure being exerted on the terminalboard.• Use an appropriate screwdriver for tightening the terminal screws.A screwdriver with a small head will strip the head and makeproper tightening impossible.Screw size Tightening torque (ft · lbf)M3.5 (A1P) 0.59 ~ 0.711 212Power wireCrimp-style terminalInsulating sleeve3P215731-12R
