CARE AND CLEANING9Coil Elements: The surface elements are self cleaning,burning off any spillage. However, removal of largepieces of food or excess oil is recommended to preventsmoking. To remove an element: Ensure it is cold, thenraise the front (approximately 1” / 2.5cm) and pull itout of its receptacle. To replace, reverse this procedure.All elements of the same size are interchangeable. DONOT IMMERSE ELEMENT IN WATERControl Panel and Knobs:• Before cleaning the control panel be sure that theknobs are in the OFF position. Clean with a soft clothand warm soapy water. Remove residues and drycarefully; excess water in and around the controls maydamage the stove.• The control knobs may be removed for easier cleaning.To remove, pull them straight off the stem. Clean with softcloth and warm soapy water; rinse well.• To replace knobs after cleaning, connect the flat sideof the knob cavity to the control rod and press againstthe knob to reconnect.Oven Racks:• To make the racks slide more easily you may apply asmall amount of vegetable oil or cooking oil to a papertowel and wipe the edges of the racks with it.Broiler Pan:• Remove broiler pan from oven after broiling andcarefully pour out the grease from the pan into aproper container.• Wash and rinse the broiler pan using hot water and asoap-filled scouring pad.• If food has burned on, sprinkle with detergentwhile it is hot and cover it with wet paper towels or adishcloth. Soaking the pan will remove burned-on food.• Do not use commercial oven cleaners, cleaningpowders, steel wool pads or harsh abrasives on anysurfaces. Vinegar and water solution may be used.To Remove/Replace the Storage Drawer:• Pull the drawer all the way out until it stops.• Lift the drawer by its handle and pull all of the way out.• To replace, reverse steps above.Oven Surface:• Be sure to wear rubber gloves to protect your hands.• Do not use oven cleaners, cleaning powders, steelwool pads, synthetic fiber pads, or any othermaterials that may damage the surface finishing.• If any acid, grease, sugar, etc. spills on surfaces whilethey are hot, use a dry paper towl or soft cloth to wipe itup right away. When the surface has cooled, clean withsoft cloth and warm soapy water; rinse well.• You may also use a solution of vinegar and water toclean the oven surface. Use vinegar to remove hardstains (white stains).• Heavy spattering or spillover may require cleaningwith a mildly abrasive cleaner.Oven Cavity:• Do not use oven cleaners, cleaning powders, steelwool pads, synthetic fiber pads, or any othermaterials that may damage the surface finishing.• To clean the oven bottom, gently lift the bakeelement. This will allow easier access to the oven bottomfor cleaning. Be careful not to raise the element morethan 4 or 5 inches from the resting position.• Clean with warm soapy water; rinse and dry with aclean soft cloth.Lift-Off Oven Door:• The oven door is removable for cleaning. Toremove:• Open the door to the fully opened position.• Pull up the lock located on both hinge supports andengage it in the hook of the hinge levers. You mayhave to apply a little downward pressure on the doorto pull the lock fully over the hooks.• Grasp the door by the sides; pull the bottom of thedoor up and toward you to disengage the hinge sup-ports. Keep pulling the bottom of the door towardyou while rotating the top of the door toward therange to completely disengage hinge levers.To replace: reverse the process above.Cleaning the Inner Door:• Soap and water should suffice; Heavy spattering orspillovers may require cleaning with a mildlyabrasive cleaner.Cleaning the Outer Door:• Use soap and water to thoroughly clean the top,bottom, sides, and front of the oven door; rinse well.• Do not let water drip into the vent openings.
