UseStoring Fresh FoodsProper use of the appliance, adequately packed food,correct temperature and taking into account hygienicprecautions will substantially influence the quality ofthe food stored.• Foods to be stored in the refrigerator should beproperly packed so as to prevent mixing variousmoisture degrees and odors (in polyethylene bagsor sheet, aluminum foil, wax paper, or stored incovered containers or bottles).• Before storing food in the refrigerator, removeexcessive packaging (like yogurt in multi-package).• Pack systematically and make sure thatfoodstuffs do not touch each other (various odorsmay mix). Assure adequate air circulationaround packages.• Never store flammable, volatile orexplosive substances.• Beverages with high alcohol percentage shallbe stored in tightly sealed bottles invertical position.• Food should not touch the rear wall ofthe refrigerator• Foods should be cooled down before storing.• Crispy and delicate foods should be stored in thecoldest parts of the refrigerator.• Try not to open the door too often.• Set the thermostat to a setting where lowesttemperatures are reached. Set the thermostatgradually so as to avoid freezing of foods. Use athermometer and measure the temperature in theindividual compartments. Place the thermostat in aglass vessel filled with water. Temperature readingsare most reliable a few hours after a steady statecondition is reached.• Some organic solutions like volatile oils in lemonand orange peel, acid in butter etc. can causedamage when in contact with plastic surfaces orgaskets for long periods of time.• Unpleasant odors inside the refrigerator is a signthat something is wrong with foods or that yourrefrigerator needs cleaning. Unpleasant odors canbe eliminated or reduced by washing the interior ofthe refrigerator with mild solution of water andvinegar. We also recommend using activated carbonfilters to clean the air or to neutralize odors.• If you are planning a long journey, make sure toremove perishable articles of food out of theappliance before you leave.7
