The EU has introducedthe CE label as a simple way of showing whether aproduct complies with the relevant EU directives andstandards. The CE label says nothing about the specifi-cations or quality of the product.1.5.2 CE MarkIllustration 1.1 CEThe CE mark (Communauté Européenne) indicates that theproduct manufacturer conforms to all applicable EUdirectives. The EU directives applicable to the design andmanufacture of frequency converters are listed in Table 1.3.NOTICEThe CE mark does not regulate the quality of theproduct. Technical specifications cannot be deduced fromthe CE mark.EU Directive VersionLow Voltage Directive 2014/35/EUEMC Directive 2014/30/EUMachinery Directive1) 2006/42/ECErP Directive 2009/125/ECATEX Directive 2014/34/EURoHS Directive 2011/65/EUTable 1.3 EU Directives Applicable to Frequency Converters1) Machinery Directive conformance is only required for frequencyconverters with an integrated safety function.Declarations of conformity are available on request.1.5.2.1 Low Voltage DirectiveDrives must be CE-labeled in accordance with the LowVoltage Directive of April 20, 2016. The Low VoltageDirective applies to all electrical equipment in the 50–1000 V AC and the 75–1500 V DC voltage ranges. The aim of the directive is to ensure personal safety andavoid property damage when operating electricalequipment that is installed, maintained, and used asintended.Introduction Design GuideMG80C602 Danfoss A/S © 05/2019 All rights reserved. 51 1
