Setting up the speedThe electronic control unit FDC3 is suppliedwith the exclusive Serial Port Interface (SPI),featuring a RJ45 telephone type connector. Thisport is configured to set up the compressorspeed through physical connections betweentheir terminals. To facilitate this procedure, threeconnector cables are supplied together with theelectronic driver. The compressor will run at acertain speed depending on the used connector,as shown in Table 2:Furthermore, if a FDC programming kit isavailable, the new FDC3 electronic driver canbe set up by programming it using the kit and acomputer.NEVER USE FDC3 ELECTRONIC DRIVER IN OTHERDC COMPRESSOR DIFFERENT THAN GLT80TDC.If the compressor or the FDC3 electronic drivershould be replaced for servicing a refrigerator ora freezer, one of the next procedures should befollowed.1. If a FDC programming kit is available, use itto check the setting of the old FDC3 electronicdriver and set up the new one by programmingthe same parameters.2. Otherwise, check the old FDC3 electronic driverfor the presence of a connector at the SPI to setup the speed. If so, take it away and connect itagain at the new FDC3 electronic driver.3. Otherwise check the appliance for someinformation about compressor speed set up. Ifso, select the proper connector which gives thenearest speed set up from table 2.1. Check for compressor displacement D0 andSpeed S0. Then calculate the required velocity ofGLT80TDC as follows:S = D0 · S0 / 3 (D0 in cm3)and set up GLT80TDC speed by programming (ifFDC programming kit is available) or by selectinga proper connector according to Table 2.Table 2.
