1.7.1.3 Machinery DirectiveThe aim of the machinery directive is to ensure personalsafety and avoid property damage for mechanicalequipment used in its intended application. The machinerydirective applies to a machine consisting of an aggregateof interconnected components or devices of which at leastone is capable of mechanical movement.Adjustable frequency drives with an integrated safetyfunction must comply with the machinery directive.Adjustable frequency drives without the safety function donot fall under the machinery directive. If an adjustablefrequency drive is integrated into a machinery system,Danfoss can provide information on safety aspects relatingto the adjustable frequency drive. When adjustable frequency drives are used in machineswith at least one moving part, the machine manufacturermust provide a declaration stating compliance with allrelevant statutes and safety measures.1.7.1.4 ErP DirectiveThe ErP directive is the European Ecodesign Directive forenergy-related products. The directive sets eco designrequirements for energy-related products, includingadjustable frequency drives. The aim of the directive is toincrease energy efficiency and the level of protection ofthe environment, while increasing the security of theenergy supply. Environmental impact of energy-relatedproducts includes energy consumption throughout theentire product life cycle.1.7.2 C-Tick ComplianceFigure 1.2 C-TickThe C-Tick label indicates compliance with the applicabletechnical standards for Electromagnetic Compatibility(EMC). C-Tick compliance is required for placing electricaland electronic devices on the market in Australia and NewZealand. The C-Tick regulatory is about conducted and radiatedemission. For adjustable frequency drives, apply theemission limits specified in EN/IEC 61800-3.A declaration of conformity can be provided on request.1.7.3 UL ComplianceUL-listedFigure 1.3 ULNOTICE!525–690 V adjustable frequency drives are not certifiedfor UL.The adjustable frequency drive complies with UL508Cthermal memory retention requirements. For moreinformation, refer to chapter 2.6.2 Motor Thermal Protection.1.7.4 Marine Compliance1.8 Safety1.8.1 General Safety PrinciplesIf handled improperly, adjustable frequency drives containhigh-voltage components and have the potential for fatalinjury. Only qualified personnel should install and operatethe equipment. Do not attempt repair work without firstremoving power from the adjustable frequency drive andwaiting the designated amount of time for stored electricalenergy to dissipate.Strict adherence to safety precautions and notices ismandatory for safe operation of the adjustable frequencydrive.1.8.2 Qualified PersonnelCorrect and reliable transport, storage, installation, operation, and maintenance are required for the trouble-free and safe operation of the adjustable frequency drive.Only qualified personnel are allowed to install or operatethis equipment.Qualified personnel are defined as trained staff, who areauthorized to install, commission, and maintain equipment, systems, and circuits in accordance with pertinent laws andregulations. Additionally, the qualified personnel must befamiliar with the instructions and safety measuresdescribed in this instruction manual.Introduction VLT® AQUA Drive FC 20212 Danfoss A/S © 09/2014 All rights reserved.
